need help for a '03 cobra motor swap please piont me in the right direction and what is all involed

You will need a Cobra R hood for sure. You will need to get your car dyno tuned, I think you can still use your stock PCM, can't use the Cobra one since it won't know how to run your 4R70W. Make sure you have all your suspension figured out to be able to handle the torque of the 03 motor. New driveshaft, rear end, etc.

what about parts wise anything?

Send a text message to SVO he is working on this very swap, who knows he might be done by now. He will surely know what you need to do the swap, I plan on doing this as well someday.

how do i find svo ? and p, message him or what?

Go to the search screen and type in his name(SVO) and his name should come up, then select pm (personal message) and thats it. Also try to send a message to Roadboss, this guy has a Mark VIII motor with forged internals, Murauder heads(same as the cobras), and a kenne bell blower on top Its almost the same but with the stock aluminum block. And ehs pushing over 500hp and this setup is lighter than the cobra's but not by much. good luck!

Ummm, you dont necessarily need a new hood, you do not need a new drive shaft, you do not need a re-program (not to get it running, but a chip eventually will be a good idea).

What year Mark do you have?

What you will need is all your stock wiring.

You will need a Gen II intake tube and a conical filter setup, but a stock Gen II air filter box will work - its just a little restrictive.

You will need a new throttle cable and maybe a cruise cable, but it can be re-routed to fit.

On the subject of the hood you can go with a low-profile intake. I have a 2001 Cobra intake. I could have either shimmed the the k-member to sit lower, notched the hood or done both. On the Gen 1 the hood is that fiberglass-like substance (forget the name) so you can cut away the under-layer to give you that extra quarter inch you would need. I dont know how high the 03 intake sets, if it is substantial then a cowl hood would be needed.

You can covert to COPS. If you dont, you will need new valve covers. I suggest the COP swap to save some headaches.

 Questionable info. The '03 Cobra motor happens to have a blower sitting on top of it and IS a COP. IF you can make it fit a Gen 1 by cutting a little bit off the back of the hood like you said, well, you'd be the 1st in the universe to do it.

Key word is blower, as in Eaton, in this equation.:D

Heres the cutting you will have to do to the back of the hood.

Geno,

Why don't you also tell him about your one-off custom power dome built into your Gen 1 hood to accomodate the blower.

I don't want this guy thinking this motor drops under a stock Gen 1 hood.

Ya know. I think I'm crazy enough to mold a piece of lexan to replace the stock Gen 2 hood. Heck, I could use the old hood to make the vacuum form to pull it off.

Have to check the temp tolerances of the Lexan with my buddy that owns a plastic fab shop. That is just soooo killer to have a clear hood. It would be like the GT and all the Ferrari rear-engines with the pheasant-under-glass look.

Why do you post stuff like that? Drives me crazy!

Back in the 70's one of my dad's drag racing buddies had a clear hood on a 71 charger so I know it has been done.

Hey, no one mentioned a blower to me! LOL, ok, cowl hood you need then! Which by the way are very ugly in my opinion. I would have got one if they did not raise the hood line so much!

No way. The CR Hood is awesome, totaly runs with the factory lines, steps up in height nicely..etc. Plus it's a Ford hood.

If my Mark was made in the 80s, maybe. Have I mentioned how much I hate cowl hoods??? LOL I do like the lines of the Cobra R hood, it just stands way to high for MY likes :)

That power dome hood fits the lines of the Gen 1... because you can hardly tell it's different from stock (other than the intakes.)

unity the year is a 1994 mark VIII

I sent ya the info on the COP change over. And if its super-charge then disregard most of what I said - I thought we were swapping engines here, not the intakes too. Being SC you will want to consider a new shaft, dyno tune, etc like said before. They wont be needed to get on the road, but will be if you plan to drive it like it will be meant to be driven.

And if you dont have the 03 harness for the COP plug ends you should be able to get them somewhere. I never had to search so I dont know for sure, maybe someone can help you with that. Or pick up a used harness for almost anything from Ford that had COPS, Aviator, Cobra, etc...

I would not attempt such swap with the old fasion eec4 computer. Swap over to eecV or get a 96 if you need a 1st gen. Safer, cheaper and EASIER in the long run.
