Last weekend while driving on the interstate, the car was like hesitating/bucking/misfiring when accelerating from 55 mph or higher to a higher speed. Had it at the dealer this morning, they did a stress test on the coils and found #2 to be bad. Coil and plug were replaced; will need to check if that solved the problem. We couldn’t feel that there was a problem while in-town driving, speeds between 35-50 mph or when accelerating from like 30 to 40 mph; the issue showed itself at above 55 mph. There were no “Service Engine Soon” lights and apparently no codes set.
Car has now 58K miles; back in Sep. 2010, at 39K miles, coils and plugs #’s 4 & 8 were replaced. Work done under warranty (Ford covers those coils for 10 years or 100K miles – Programs 07M07 and 07N09).
