One HID went out, and the intermittently dim NAV screen works again?

So i was coming home from work last night around 9pm when i got in my car, turned it on, and saw the passenger side HID fizzle out. I got out, did what anyone would do, hit the thing, and proceeded to drive home unhappy about buying two new bulbs (because i dont want a new one and an old one...). This is when i noticed the problem i have been having for 6 months, a nav screen that goes dark/light/dark, was now no longer a problem . No intermittent flashing, no dimming, no problems at all.

The HIDs on the car are obviously aftermarket, but the car did come equipped with HIDs from factory. I am guessing the previous owner wanted a more aftermarket look, and bought some 6000k HIDs. Probably somewhere cheap beacuse he also spray painted the aftermarket rims black while still on the car, also getting some of the suspension, lug nuts, and the calipers all in one go.

So, in my round about way of asking, does anyone think the HID was causing some sort of interference with the touch screen? And also, where do i find quality replacement bulbs?

I see tons on amazon ranging from $12-100+ for a set, but besides brand names like phillips and sylvania, i have no clue what is of a decent quality. I see people on here buy replacements from DDM Tuning, so i might check there, but i just wanted to make sure i had the information for the replacements correct.

H11/35w/D2R

And this is for an '04 LS.

I have a friend whose NAV screen went dark all the time. He changed the battery and the screen came back to life. The LS does weird things when the battery is failing. How old is your battery? If factory I would imagine that after 9 years it needs replacement.

Ok, interesting. Ill take a look at the date on it. But as for HIDs? Is DDM Tuning reputable? $15 for two bulbs is cheap. Its obviously chinese stuff, but will it last a year? Thats fne with me.

what is typical shipping time? ive read sometimes they take a week or more, is this true?

well i got my hids, and took the headlight out and realized that the bulbs i got were not going to work.

I ordered H11 bulbs, they came with a harness on the bulb.

Was i supposed to order something different or what?

H11 is the factory halogen. D2R is the correct bulb type for factory HIDs.

so...

if your car came with HIDs from the factory, but somebody put aftermarket HIDs on it, what ballast are being used? OEM or aftermarket?

The ballasts are stock, and the HIDs that are currently in there are Phillips D2R 6000k bulbs.

guess i gotta order another set, because the cost to send em back, and have a new set sent out is basically going to be the same as ordering a new set.

ill just try to sell these h11 bulbs locally.

Problem solved. Bought a new set of d2s philips bulbs for $60! Brand new. Thanks to craigslist. I know, i know, there are those who say they cause too much glare, but im not the first LS to use d2s bulbs.

Thanks for everyones help. I did ask in the initial post if i needed h11/d2r bulbs, but i thought it was the same thing. Wasted $30 but ill probably make $20 of it back from selling the ddm hids on, thats right, craigslist.
