Well it started with a brake job. So got all my parts... went with OEM rotors all around. Eve front pads and friction pro rear... passenger side went smoothly. Driver side had a rounded capiler bolt. Had to go buy a special kit...

Then the worst happened... moved on to the rear and braking the lugs loose and broke a hub stud... :mad:

Does anyone know where I can get studs?? Don't really see a point in buying a whole assembly!

So angry...

Has any one else experienced this?

Never got a chance to check starter for my knock on start up either... :mad:
 
Coincidentally broke one today as well, while test fitting my Jag big brakes. Talked to another member who has had this happen a few times. I'm going to order a few studs from rockauto and put them in myself. They're only a couple of bucks.

there should be some sort of write up around here on how to do it.

HAHa no way.. glad I'm not alone... yes most definitely should be a write up... let's get it started...shall we!

GL guys, shouldn't be too bad, count to ten before throwing the wrenches, hope they come out easily.
 
I realize its not a hard job, but hard to find the stud... nobody around here carries them... just the whole hub Assembly... having called Ford yet...

Will do first thing tomorrow...

I would hope a good parts place (Napa, local chain, etc) would have a fair chance of carrying studs or being able to pull them in quickly. The RockAuto ones are probably Dorman, which anyone can get.

Not my auto zone.. they carry s**t for the LS...:mad:

Dealer wants a 1k for a whole assembly...@#$$%&@$% that!

Need to know asap... tonight and tomorrow are my only days off and I need my car since I live alone... and can't borrow a ride...

Like a stand stud?
 
As far as I know any 12 x 1.5 stud will work.

I would check junk yards, local tire and wheel shops, autozone and pep boys should carry these stud sizes as they are used on multiple vehicles.
 
When I called every shop in the area including FORD... not a single person had one, One shop said to bring car in and let them see what they could do... but Im not going to pay someone for such an easy job... its ridiculous...

I called autozone, pepboys, orielieys, ford, tire shops, my buddy junk yard... and rock auto... cant find them...
 
this is getting ridiculous.... I need my car back on the road like yesterday... FML!

no, that's a constant at the box stores really. most aren't too smart.
you just have to know what to tell them so they can look it up in their computer correctly.

but that means that the world is filled with them... I didn't expect to deal with 1 idiot at every place I called LMFAO!:shifty:
 
Worse comes to worse, you can drive your car with one broken lug nut stud per wheel. Many cars only come with 4 studs, and a few even only have three although I don't think three is legal in the US. If you can't locate the parts immediately go ahead and drive the car, then when you get the parts in take care of business. The LS uses hub centric wheels anyway, so the weight of the car is on the hub and not the studs.
 
Well after 3 different trips to auto zone... still don't have the right stud... wtf... I'm really starting to get pissed.... u bought the 12x1.5 and they wouldn't fit... I took the broken one with me and still can't **************** get it right... I'm out of ideas...

Sort of basic question but are you pulling them through by torquing a nut down on the old rotors? They dont really just "drop in" they have to be yanked through.
