Ok before I get bombarded with "use the search" I in fact did. lol... Couldn't find anything with similar issues...

05 LS V8 119K

Only for tops of 3 sec does this happen. I get a rattle almost like a broken lifter. Does not do it if sat over night. Only if I drive it till it heats up and then let it sit for an hr or 2. Havnt been able to diagnose the problem. When I first bought the car had a check engine light. turns out the light was for the timing. took it to the shop and they wiped the code and hasn't been on since... iv put 200miles since the clear of code. So (I don't think its the timing) however Iv been wrong before. Im a new owner and not sure what to expect from these cars...

So here what Iv done to see if I could quiet it down or eliminate the problem. Oil Change with Syn Mobil 1 5w20 and puralator filter. and fuel filter.

Keep in mind its about 50 degrees when I leave for work. as of now,

So only on start up at 3 sec. (rattle, like marbles in a can) if I shut off car right after, it wont do it again. unless I let it sit. Its loud and noticeable and does not sound healthy. Iv had delt with blown engines, broken lifters (which is what it sounds like) and such things before... but this boggles my mind...

Any insight to this... My warrnety I have does not cover this... Kinda pissed... HELP!

Stop driving and take the car to a shop and have the timing system looked at.

Don't just clear codes and ignore them you should know better.

I didn't just have the codes cleared. I should have been more specific. Sorry... I took it to the place where I bought it and they brought the code up and the mechanic stated that it was probably thrown from when he had put 87 octane in the car. that there is nothing to worry about.

but since I cant get the car there without driving it, they cant hear the noise...

so they just look at me like Im crazy...

Can you get a good idea of what part of the engine compartment it is coming from?

Sounds like it coming from the passenger side, not completely sure, as though I live a lone and by the time I start it, and get to the front of car the noise is gone.

Thanks, I have indeed read and reread through the thread, most people are experience somewhat of the same issues, however not completely, and I actually did post in that thread a while ago, and it seems like the thread has come to a halt since the last person whom posted was a month ago.

I did just post in there though to find out if they figured out what is was yet...
