So I was in the process of swapping out my transmision and noticed some antifreeze leaking from the bellhousing. Needless to say I had the wrong transmission so I have to wait till tomorrow to finish the job. Now my thinking is to take off the flywheel and check teh freeze plug behind it. I checked all hoses and changed the degausse bottle 2 weeks ago so that is teh only thing I can think of. What do you guys think?

A leak at the front of the engine (on top) can flow under the intake manifold and pour out over the bell-housing.

You are exactly right its coming from the housing the thermastat sits in. I changed it so I will be taking it back out to see whats going on in there. It only leaks when stopped so as long as there is pressure on it its fine.

Remove your water outlet pipe and inspect it for cracks

Check your intake manifold gaskets as well

My LS had the same thing happen replaced the intake gaskets, found a massive seam line crack at the seam on the bottom, put it all back together and bled the system and haven't had any problems since

Yea I checked around that housing and you can see the fluid there. Not sure if its cracked or not but I will jsut go ahead and replace it. Better to be safe than sorry. This car is really growing on my after 2 months I'm in it for the long run............

There's also a hose that runs through the valley that can cause that leak. I had to have it replaced awhile back on my 01.

Check the hoses that connect to your dccv I had one go go bad

When you check the dccv hoses make sure to check the underside of the very bottom hose

I took a flashlight and stuck my head under the car and examined that hose and found whit powder from a coolant leak and orange buildup where the hose met the dccv

Checking leak points is horrible situation for me.. I do have minor back problem so it makes the situation more worse:(
