So I got a new job that I started today. I am working for a subway franchise, as an auditor. They own about 75 stores around my area as well about 400 other different franchises and a race team. So it's pretty cool everyone there seems pretty awesome plus the pay is nice.

I work 8-5 m-f. The only down fall is I have no guarantee yet that I can make it to the national meet, as of right now I don't see that I can't make it so we should be good.

I am excited though this is a huge company with a lot of opportunity for growth. They trained me for half a day and I was already doing store audits today.

Maaaaaaaaad! A new job adds an extra 25 kilowats!

Congrats dude, more money means more mods!

Big congrats. :) future looks bright. Gotta wear shades. :D

Many congrats on the new job, everyone needs an income.

From putting out fires in your spare time to pushing sales at a media group company to auditing Fast food Subway chains.

I smell free lunches in that gig. All the best in your new endeavours.

+1

thanks folks, I am pretty excited about this. Its a big step forward for my career. It is especially great considering I am 22.

Are you going to be able to get to time off for the meet in June?

I shouldn't have any problem with it but since I won't have actual vacation time yet I don't really have a way to guarantee it. So right now I am playing it by ear. I should know much better in the next month or so if there should be any issue. The worst case is I just get there late Friday. I am not schedule to ever work Saturdays but there is nothing stating I Won't ever half to

Thats great about the job!!Especially these days... As mentioned a new job adds 25KW or 33.512064343249996 HP!!

Congrats on the job. But how are you able to audit a workplace when you've never done that job?

Just a pet peeve of mine...they have people come audit where i work and it just seems like you should have some experience doing that particular type of work before you can audit.

Depends what you are looking for

If you are auditing to make sure processes, procedures, standard work practices, maintenance, training records, etc.... are being documented and followed. It doesn't matter if you have experience in that area or not, you are only looking for documentation and proof thing are being followed.

Makes some sense.

I just have the mindset that anyone in auditing/management should have work experience in the area they are supervising or watching.

... for instance like an ISO 9001 manufacturing audit. Those auditors that come on site to carry out the audits don't actually have to have ever done/performed those individual job functions but they are familiar with the processes and they know what to look for.

And as you said, it's not just the job functions but rather also the books.

When a company is being audited you may never even see the auditors personally other then they me be given a tour of the facilities and then
return to the board room to go through the books.

Very familiar with this. Used to have to present and hand over our in-house training documentation at a word class ISO certified operation.

ohh, those were the days.

I have to say though ... I consider myself a bit of a "Sandwich Artist" and welcome an audit anytime!

Yeah I am auditing the payroll and making sure certain other procedures are followed. So I just watch to make sure people get paid enough as well as not to much. Stuff of that nature as well as some other duties.

Basically it's my job to make sure end results in numbers are right

So say procedure x is to only result in y I verify every time that is done we only have y and not q or x. I I do see a result that is not right I then notify the regional managers so they can check on it, And they do have experience in the job tht they are manager over. I just look at the numbers I don't tell people how to do the job just make sure they do it with the intended results and so on.

I am sure other auditor positions are different an should very well have expietence in the job they are auditing. But it really isn't needed with what I am doing

Cool. Basically you notify management of any issues that need to be addressed? I would have thought the store manager would do that. And in no way am i giving you crap. Just reminded me of the auditing that goes on in my workplace.

Basically te management is as such
Regional
District
Store
Assistant store

I notify regionals as they are here in the office and It then trickles down to the appropriate person and so on
