So if my new compressor doesnt solve the airride problems.
Anyone know where to get a set of springs?

start doing your research...it's well-documented here...I got a standard height kit from American Air Suspension, and am happy with it; they are strutmasters but some members don't like the mounting plate of the rear spring, DLF has a perch to solve that...it's more $ but a lot of guys here like Tokico's (Hitcahi)..not sure why
...why do you think your comp is bad?
...be 110% sure you want lowered before going that route...mine are standard and I'm glad they are...there's a lot of hills where I live! :p

Depends on the ride you like I guess, I like my car lowered, it handles better with a lower center of gravity
Tokicos were fairly inexpensive at $175-$190 for the full set. I'm using Eibach springs with them and it rides great

If you end up converting don't use the American air lowered kit. Get tokico/Eibach as others have suggested.

This is what i have on my car and so does KevIIIn. if you search around the forum you can find both his and my threads on them. We also both used the perches from DLF. the cost to do a full conversion is between 800-1000 dollars. with the perches. is it worth it. ask your self how many times have you had to replace your air ride parts. for me ive spend close to a grand replacing the drivers side air bag a few times as well as the rear bags at least once. Would i consider going back to AIR most certainly but not for a while as i am actually enjoying my conversion. The car has a rather nice stance and a look even with stock rims.

as for the other kits out there. well the lowering kits that you can get now are just kits with cut springs. cut springs is the wrong way to do things. just keep that in mind.

I have the red springs, don't like em'. Back to air soon.

Sounds like StrutMaster, which is a junk spring. Give a good spring a chance and you'll change your mind

I've sprung a few cars. The Strutmastsers are kinda bad, I know, but I have never had air. I want to try it out and it's not all that much more than decent springs.

I like the way you're thinking! A good rebuilt compressor from Eddie and two new Motorcrafts up front and some decent Motorcrafts in the rear that do hold air and you're set. Make sure to get new isolators for the compressor too. I barely hear mine running but I do hear it.

Everything I've ever had...had springs. My mark has always had air. There's nothing like air ride! You'll love it. Springs will never go on this car.

All my previous cars have been standard sprung cars until this mark viii which was all original with working air ride and 70k miles on it at the time of purchase..and it surely didn't impress me at all with the ride quality..not sure if the 2nd gen style front air shock has a different feel to it but mine surely didn't ride that soft, and I hate the floaty feel when you go over a bump or dip it feels like it takes forever to stop rebounding..just don't like it.

a coil spring is a solid piece of metal/steel/iron...right? what makes a good or bad spring new in box?

Anyone have DLF's contact info to purchase the rear perches? Also, anyone know a place which has the Tokico kit in stock?

LOL. It's steel. There is a huge range of steels and the nice spring steel is especially expensive. The Stutmasters are pretty bad and I doubt the steel is very high grade. As well the proper heat treating etc done to high grade springs requires pretty extensive facilities to do a good job.

We can also put this into perspective so you start understanding name brands better

According to Christians-- God made people.. There's good people, bad people, pretty people, ugly people, smart people, you ....
And that's all from ONE "creator"

You could get a Hyundai or a Bugatti..... there both cars, so what's the difference

eh, yea, ok...Christians...got it

back to springs; why is one better than another? why are Strutmaster's 'junk'...not as good (or better) than some others?

I thought I explained it pretty well. What part are you not getting?

Because some companies make crap, and other companies make not crap

Brembo>Raybestos

Motorcraft>Accel

Micky Thompson>Uniroyal

Bose > Emerson

NASA > you on the backyard with a GI Joe loaded in a sling shot

Denver Mattress > pile of hay

LVC > web sites where people ask stupid questions (ahhh crap ). :(

mmmkay, you doubt they use high grade steel, or have an extensive facility...got it
...all I need to do is pay more and I'll get better steel....has anyone actually done an objective A/B comparison?

hey SF, as much as you use this site, why aren't you a Gold member?
oops, another stupid question...
MUH BAD:cool:
