JMOD Video

since I'm a rookie to the mark viii, very educational vid. I always heard the term jmod but never knew what it entailed. Interesting. So the jmod basically changes the shift points of the vehicle? how much faster is a vehicle because of this mod and is there any downside to this?

It doesn't change the shift points. It quickens the action of the shift by allowing better flow of transmission fluid through the valve body of the transmission via the separator plate. The 1-2 lower spring removal/modification is just icing on the cake. I actually still have springs in my 1-2 but they are different ones that came with a pre-done kit that I got from Dirty Dog Performance. The performance gain in terms of E/T is negligible but in the long run will help because you won't be doing the typical Ford slide-shift anymore and your transmission should last longer.

Happy to see someone finally put this on video. The only thing I do differently is, I would use a cordless drill with the 1/4" tip that holds the 8mm and 10mm sockets for removing and replacing. Much quicker than messing with the ratchet. I noticed in the 1-2, he had 2 lower springs or was I seeing things? Anyway, it is a very easy job to do and now that the video is out, maybe more will attempt it. This should be placed in the sticky up top for the 98 J-Mod. Maybe Mike will get it up there. Now we need one for the 93 -97's :)

Why not just paste that link in the thread that's already a sticky for the 98 Jmod?

I need to order my plates soon :)

it may actually lower shift points since the fluid movement happens quicker..
