So I figured I would replace rotors and pads all around on the LS (04 V8) before my vacation is over. Started on the drivers rear, the inside pad was bare metal and the rotors appear to be OEM, needless to say they needed some love.
Anyways, during reinstall of the new pads and rotors I noticed that the bottom caliper slide was stuck, would not move at all. Inspecting the slide pin I notice there is no grease under the boot, just rust.
The boot appears to be in great shape, so I am unsure as to how this could be.
After a bit of WD-40 and a bench vice, I was able to free it with no major damage, other than some superficial metal disfiguring on the head of the guide pin.
My question is, would it be foolish to clean it up, regrease and reinstall? I believe I will have to order these and the wife will need the car.
Happy New Years!
