Tasca Mark VIII

Like I said, it's a novelty; a rare piece of history. Someone who appreciates that and wants it (likely to store it again) will buy it for the price asked. On the contrary, no one here that just wants to simply have a Mark8 with a supercharger setup is going to buy this one. I think that it would be a person interested in the car itself because it's a specialty item and for its rarity, not necessarily because they just "want a supercharged Mark8".

BurbankLSC for example will tell you that you can run 10s in a Mark8 for a whole lot less than 48 big ones. And I mean a whole lot less. Here is what he told me personally: "it has stock Mark viii Teksid block with Cobra forged crank , Manley rods and pistons , still 4.6 engine . car has less then a $1K into bottom end. stock cylinder heads , stock cams , stock 4R70W trans , stock IRS . it went 10.6's with non intercooled Vortech S-trim supercharger at 11-12 lbs of boost and cheap Anderson methanol injection"

With that said, my $11,000 blown setup might need a cage in the future. I still have $34,000 to spend to hit the asking price for the Tasca, and by then I think the car will just be simply too fast and reliable on the street. LOL

You think you will need a CAGE in future? That's hauling.

I have told myself what I want to do to the 97 and I am having mixed emotions now. It will run low 12s on the current setup with stall, full exhaust and some better tuning. If I change the pulley on this thing and decide to beef up the engine a bit, it should be there. I am thinking about getting a stall in the 4200 range. Now that I have another car and truck to fall back on, I am a bit less nervous about making this car go really fast.

How fast before they make you have a gage were you live Kirk ??

11.50

I have a new inspiration for the 97. I came across this guy on youtube. I think it runs 11s at least:

Thats a ROLL BAR at 11.50 not a ROLL CAGE.

Should be 9.99 for a cage. But there is a mph rule that if you go over 135 mph and are 10 to 10.99 you then need a cage too.

Well I'm taking the S/C 93 and the stock Black 98 Mark to the drag strip Sunday. It is suppose to be in the lower 50's so maybe I got a shot at roll bar territory. I'll finish prepping it Friday and Saturday which is my birthday so it would make a nice birthday gift. I hadn't thought about it till you mentioned it Kirk but Frank has ran as fast or almost as fast as the SuperMark being N/A. WOW. Well wish me luck please.

Don, if you can be quick enough on the shift, you should try manually shifting unless you have ways to change those parameters on the fly. What is your rev limiter set at? I think you have 11.50 easy with a 6500+ rpm shift in both gears. Your car is begging for a few more tenths and mph with high shift points. I still say you put beehives in the 93, but be prepared to run low 11s if everything else holds together. :)

Of course, manually shifting only as a temporary attempt to see how much better the car runs with higher shifts. I did that on my car in order to shift past the programmed shift points on the tune. It worked and I gained tenths and mph going from 6200/6400 to ~6700 rpms on both shifts. I gained about 3+ tenths and 3 mph on average by doing that.

That's right. 10.99 and quicker would require a cage. And actually I stand corrected on the time too. It is 11.49 and slower.

I have a feeling that's why burbank makes his runs at the tracks that he does..I know for a fact byron dragway is very lenient on the rules and doesn't go crazy on tech inspections. His car has no roll bar or cage and they allowed him to make several 10 second passes. This is why a lot of Chicago area guys go to byron over great lakes dragaway which are both close in proximity. Even in the early 90s GLD booted my dad for running in the 11.70s in his Corvette..hard top convertible with 4 wing nuts and 2 latches holding the top down...he would be pretty much f*cked if it were to roll.
