Been looking for awhile to get a new DD and something I can use for some work, tow things of not tremendous weight, and what not. Been driving the Mark for about a year again, and I like to try and keep the miles down and closest to 100k as possible, for now. It's been a great car and it deserves a rest, plus theres tons of things I want to do to it, that being a weekend car /backup car again would enable me to do...and now I may not have to fix the blend door before winter......more go fast stuff... lol :shifty:

I've been on the prowl for awhile for something at a good price and structurally there, alot of vehicles up here are on there last limb. I wanted something that was worthy enough of keeping, a project worth holding onto cheap to maintain, reliable, for work to get my money back out of it, pull trailers. Looked at alot of heavier duty trucks but they are usually worked pretty hard.

1992 F150 Flareside 4x4

Dual tanks, electronic speedo, push button 4x4, manual hubs
2" suspension lift, fairly newer

Its the perfect base truck for starting a build and using it for work, the flare sides I always thought looked good on regular cab lifted trucks but its growing on me with the extended cab. I always wanted a shortbed/ dual tanks, but most are rotted...well this one cant, because the whole bed is fiberglass. The cap is coming off (keeping it because its particular to this pacakged truck in case I want to use it) and painting the bottom gray with black rustoleoum, has some rust on the extended cab, but Its nothing serious.

I think it needs a larger motor and straight axle front /8 lugs with some fresh paint but for now its a great start. Even if the motor blows tomorrow, its worth putting another one in and keeping. Didnt get a chance to go over it to much, guy just used it for hunting, sat a little here and there over the last 4 years, needs valve cover gaskets among a few other things like a wheel bearing eventually and the Ac recharged, but im not complaining.

Im gonna get it into the shop shortly, throw some gaskets on it, compression check, change all the fluids..etc. Fires right up, been sitting awhile. Somethings rattling a little up front, but it purrs quiet, no matter what I couldnt have gone wrong. Saw it on CL with a picture of it blocked buy trees and filthy. Said it needed ac recharged and running boards, I emailed the guy and told him I was a serious buyer with cash, whats his best price, told me NO BS $1000 cash, come get it in the first email, he was asking $1500. Figured It would be all trashed, but its really not, needs a few things, but for a 20 year old truck...parts are cheap enough, couldnt go wrong. The fiberglass flareside bed, wheels/ tires, and cap are worth $750 alone...but I think im going to keep this one and keep building it up.

looks great. IMO stolen for a $1000.

but look at the front alignment:

 yikes! some serious camber issues there. is it sitting funny or what?

ahaha thats the best TTB ever made by ford, when you back them up in reverse and park them, they camber out, the effect is multiplied by the wheels being turned and 35's. As soon as you put it in drive they straighten back up. They all do it, just like the broncos.

But it tracks straight down the road.

Another reason why i want a dana 60 front and 10.25 rear ;)

You can plow with em..but it puts a hurting on 1/2 ton truck and imo ttb = junk

When I had a Ranger that I did a 3" lift on back in the 90's I had to constantly hit the alignment shop. Hated that front suspension

junk man, dont know what ford was thinking...

chevy's independent front suspension design was so much better with the cv axles..you lose some of the ride going SAS...but I still prefer a solid front 8 lug axle with some 5:13 gears and a matching rear anyday...good up to 44"+ tires

I'd say you just picked up a $3000 truck for a steal.

Manual hubs but button 4x4? Sounds like someone did a conversion. Normaly the manual hubs have a lever for the transfer case.

Everyone kept tellin me its a 2-3k truck so I kbb'd it and suggested private party is $3900

I feel as I got it for a good price, has everything I wanted.

I search craigslist like every other day and everyonce in awhile a motivated seller will connect with a motivated buyer and both parties leave happy. :)

Took me about year to find something worth buying.

Ford's Auto locking hubs were junk someone probably just threw manuals in.

Loving the push button 4x4 tho ;)
