low beam not working

ok dudes headlights were working fine until today. All of a sudden the low beams wont turn on...both lights. Im running an aftermarket HID kit. I tried checking the low beam fuse but its not in the fuse diagram in the manual....does anyone know which fuse it is? If its not the fuse then im going to get another HID kit.
 
Marvin, Check the connection at the wire that used to feed the original ballast. The new ballasts are fed from that source. It sounds like both ballasts have lost power. I doubt both ballasts died at the same time. I would bet that's your problem.

The Gen 2 OEM ballasts are fed from two separate connections, at the bottom of the radiator support, hence the two different fuses I listed above.

Although, I do agree that both sides going out at the same time seems a bit suspicious.

I'd certainly check for power at the radiator support connections before I started replacing HID kits. It could be the SCIL or even the headlight switch that's the issue.
 
I installed the kit. I didn't know there were two separate power sources. I tapped both into one feed. That's why I was thinking that it lost power. Thanks for the info DLF. You learn something new every day!!
 
Yeah, each side has its own 2 wire harness. As DLF said, each one is running along the bottom of the radiator support. Drivers side on the bottom right and the passenger side on the bottom left.

P.s. It would be easiest to remove the air dam panel beneath the bumper to better access the harness/wires ect.

I had to do that in order to install my aftermarket kit. Indeed there are 2 power sources. One for each side. In fact if I recall correctly the colors of the wires are different for each side.


Marvin the problem is if that one source of power is out, I suggest you don't overload the other side. Your fuse should be blown, replace it & divide the lights, one p/side. You should be fine.

Why did it blow? If it took out both low beams then it sounds like you've got both wired to only one of the original feeds. You need to correct that.

I told him that very same thing via text. It's only a matter of time before it blows again. I'm sure that line runs pretty hot as it is.

Marvin, tomorrow I'm available after 1pm, if you want to come over to my house so we can fix that.
 
sounds like a plan dude....plus im connecting the double din tommorrow....i gotta run in the morning to wal mart or best buy to get the harness.

Dude you should've called me. I was busy 'till a bit later than expected. I was shaving a client's border collie that was full of ticks. My wife & I spent 4 hours cutting chunks of hard hair & picking over 200 ticks from the poor dog. Nasty stuff! I was REEEEALLY close to calling animal control on that B!TCH! Look at these pictures!

Poor dog :( You did good though fixing it up. Lets hope the owner never lets it get that bad ever again.

Dude, I have no words. Each red dot you see on that dog was a damn hole where a tick was sucking him dry. We only removed about 90% of the ticks. He had soooo many it was simply a horrible task. We removed all the HUGE ticks, the medium & the small ones but there were tiny ones that were dificult to pry so we left them on.
We advised our client that she MUST take the dog to get dipped at her local vet. She said she was going to put a tick collar on the dog. We advised her that her dog's situation was far worst than that of a dog collar. He needs to be attended by a vet. She changed the subject. If she brings us the dog again & we find him in similar conditions I'm calling animal control on her.
 
dude you should of called animal control on her man....as a matter of fact do it now. imagine you had all those ticks sucking on you man.
