Hey guys, I bought a W3Z2 a few months back and have been stitching between the 2 quite a bit for a strange reason... My DZA1 pulls WAY harder! Sounds strange but here are some things I noticed..

W3Z2
idle-550-600 rpm
gear changes about 4mph higher while cruising in town
WOT shift at 5,600 rpm
Brake pedal feels softer

DZA1
idle 650
WOT shift at 6,300 rpm
Pulls HARD through top of first and all the way through second
Brake pedal seems to take more input before engaging
Firmer shifts

Has anyone else experienced this? As far as I know both computers are stock.
The W3Z2 has traction control if that makes a difference. And the build date was in '92

That does sound strange. I didn't experience anything like that, especially with the brakes. With the Z2, my 2nd gear at normal driving engages quicker than the DZA1 and just has a more aggressive feel to it. My WOT 1st to 2nd gear is around 6,000 or so and just pulls hard through all gears and I have stock 3.07's. I'm not exactly sure what my idle is but I will go make a video of it and post it up inna lil while to show where it idles at. All I know is that it is smooth and if I am at a red light, in drive with the AC on, I can set a 12 oz Mountain Dew bottle with very little in it on my shifter and it sits there with hardly any vibration at all. That was just something I done the other day and was kinda Impressive to me.

I do have some vibrations at a light with AC also. But it was the same with both. Nice to hear someone else is having them also. But ya, the computer thing is really weird. Should be getting gears soon so I will have to keep it in case I run into a governor with the DZA1. lol

I capped off every vac line the other day to diagnose that hanging idle and it was still doing it so idk.

Ouch. But with the 2 piece driveline that's probably a safe stopping point

105 is fine with the 2 piece drive shaft. Mine is not limited and I have a 2 piece and have hit 138 and 140 but did have vibrations around 120 to 130 and then it seemed to smooth out but it's only been twice that I have done it. I don't really care for going that fast. Entirely too many vehicles around here that don't even show the slightest hint of being a cop car until you see the blues flickering. Yesterday, I saw a Ford Focus with the blues on. I never would have thought it if I hadn't seen it for myself. Anyway, I still have the DZA1 put away if anything ever goes bad with the Z2

ok, thanks. One last question, do you know is there is a write up anywhere on how to do gears?

silver dodge truck.. :mad::mad:

as for gears, yeah. lots of info lots of places. and it ain't cheap unless you already have the tools. the price i paid to do it myself was about the same price it cost to have someone do it i think..

When I switched from the original dza1 to the w3z2 really the only thing I felt a difference with was the shift firmness..I felt my dza1 pulled pretty well too especially when downshifting at around 20mph..pulls really hard!

If you do not already own the required tools, you'll be far better off having a shop do the install ...and in that event you may get some warranty as opposed to doing it yourself, which will cost more with no assurance other than your own.

Yea. I plan on having it done somewhere. The warranty sounds like a good use of money. As for the slow W3Z2... DZA1 FTW!!! Only problem is that my DZA1 will be speed limited when I get the gears.. :(

I hear that. I've seen older Broncos and Exploders that look normal until the blues flicker. Hell, in my little town one of the squad cars is an effing Prius...

Just removed the X3L2 computer from my 95 LSC and put back the original DZA1, I have exactly the same things happen, brake pedal is harder, got more power and less noise, shifts are more solid .. Its not in your head, its real. lol.:)

up here in Fairfax county they have a Lamborghini and a dodge viper. both of them are black with fully tinted windows. saw them sitting at the county vehicle service place i was working at last summer. and i didn't believe they where police vehicles till the officers got in them and left. they also have a grey mini van and a 2006 ford mustang.

dont ask me how i know about the mini van. D@mn undercover cops

Strange indeed. My W3Z2 shifts at 6000 when pushed.

my DZA1 is a pretty strong runner. havent had a chance to get to the track for some back to back runs yet.

Thought I seen a few a while back. Any idea where my DZA1 will top with 3.73's?

110mph my 95 has the DZA1 and i have a 3.73

DZA1
idle 650
WOT shift at 6,300 rpm
Pulls HARD through top of first and all the way through second
Brake pedal seems to take more input before engaging
