Well heres todays project. Got a fully functioning/complete column from Vikingdiesel so I decided to put it in today. My old one had a bad clockspring, up/down was very picky and the S. wheel threads were stripped out. It's not done, I still have to go to the hardware store for a new bolt to connect it to the rest of the steering shaft. Old ones head was a bit rounded.

This one has the over-travel cables.

The old one didn't have the cables. The new steering wheel is in better shape but I'll be using my old airbag and cc buttons.

The new parts I got :) Lets just say he gave me prices that even my stingy ass couldn't pass up. ;)

New auto-dim, old ones mount was screwy. Notice the new windshield :)

Some of the parts that I haven't cleaned and stored yet.
Drivers seat is fully functional, console is for parts, not sure what color(saddle?) the mats are or what year they came out of. The mat to the right was in there too, think it's a g2 p tan or gray. Also got the dash vents, defrost panel and misc plastics not pictured...

I wish I could find a Prarie Tan interior to rape and pilage just like you!!!
It is all the little things that will drive you nuts, good job.

I waited 5 years for one to pop up locally where the owner wasn't asking for my first born.

I consider myself very lucky. I "basically" bought a used steering column on ebay and got everything else for free. It was to good to pass up.

You have it looking good and the deal you got just about can't be beat.

:) Thanks

Great progress man! Keep up the good work!

:shifty:

Hi sbcaprice305
Where did you found the new windshield and the backglass?

New winshield is avail from pretty much any auto glass joint. My back glass is original, not sure if it's as widely availible.

Got the new bolt and connected it to the shaft. I also switched the airbag and cc covers from my old one.

Ratchet, socket and screws in the floor. Can't be done yet. :p Does look good though.

You caught me :p I'd put the panels back on but my brains telling me to recheck the shaft connection. I should've looked at how far the shaft inserted into the column joint on the old one. Think i'm going to take the bolt out and recheck for piece of mind. :Bang

Edit:

It appears as though the shaft has a recessed area where it inserts so it would be impossible to get the bolt in w/o it fully seated. I'm A ok.

I would or it will never get out of your mind. Then at least you'll know and be rest assured.

Just for you Limit.

Your car looks like my twin brothers with torreador red/praire tan and 20 spokes. The wheels look great at speed. I have piles of praire tan interior parts i have stock piled so if you or anyone is looking for a piece i probably have it.

Thanks. The 20 spokes are better then the corroded chrome 10's I had. I dig em'.

One of the few things I couldn't find (That I actually needed) was the front right seat bolt cover on the drivers( or pass) side.
Now it looks completed. :D Done a good job and looks good.

Thanks.
