im not suprised lincoln ls8 issues

I had no problems at the track. I added a bottle of the race-only NOS octane booster and filled my tank before going. The octane was likely around 97-99. I was spraying a 100 shot at the time and kept full spark timing in ILLS' tune. I'm thinking its gas.

They have been using ethanol for quite some time. It is very bad for cars because of all the moisture in it and I refuse to use and ethanol fuels if at all possible. I am not sure when it became mainstream but I know it was around at the release of the LS

I think it used to only be 5%, now its at least 10, and 15 in some places

I bet the ethanol in the fuel is part of the reason for the pinging.

...

I don't know about that, but I do know that too much water in the gasoline will cause pinging. Apparently, there aren't any hard and fast rules about how much water a gas station can sell you instead of gasoline.

Yeah, and if they have ethanol in the fuel that carries a lot of water along

He stated it went away after an oil change... Would/ could it be a breakdown in the oil, something you couldn't see with the naked eye

I would suspect that at least one of the following is true:
1. It was the wrong weight or spec of oil.
2. The oil level was low.
3. The oil had been in way too long and was worn out.
4. There was coolant in the oil.

If that suspicion is correct, then the remaining life of the engine has certainly been shortened.

I just can't get over this ...
every other day there is a reference to the dislikes of Canadians.
well our relationship would be so much better if you guys would stop letting all of you damn cold air from blowing across the border (which is still a lot better than what comes over our other border)

if it makes you feel any better, you should see how i talk about U-Pers, and they are part of my own state!

dont worry no matter what people say, America's hat will always be more loved that America's beard.

Lol, damn U-pers... Shoulda' let Wisconsin keep it ;p

Agree with black that I come back here to kickback. I'm more hunched forward in awe of what I'm doing on the internet most of the time but I'm here to have fun.

Glad to hear you got the car back up to par, sub-par if there are still problems. Now that you mention the ticking stopped with an oil change, my old forum, Ford Truck Enthusiasts, it was a common topic that a low quality oil filter, Fram was was an example, could cause a ticking sound. I don't recall why but do you mind telling us what you were/are running in the car?

.... If it'll make you feel better make some Dutch Jokes if you know any

Now why would I want to do that, Ik ben niet gek, hoor!
That's right, lived in that country for twelve years of my life aswell.
Noordwijk aan Zee, used to explore the German bunkers along the Dunes.

Speak 2 more languages, 5 total if you count SQL and UNIX.
Been all over Europe as a younger lad. Lived in Spain for a summer aswell.

... did you call comedy central too, south park makes Canadian jokes all the time.

I'll leave cartoons and video games to your generation.

right now I have my hands full, checking the "interweb" for cyberbullying of Canadians :D:D:D

Trust me, day after day of hearing the same questions over and over again, gets old. ..

same thing, get's old, that Canadian thing!

... that big of a stick up your a$$.

Let's leave my a$$ out of it, or I'm going to have to get on you about your possible homosexual tendancies. :D:D:D

... or just get of the interweb all together....

Whooaa horsie, Whooaa, don't be talking like that now, that's not funny nor healthy, can you imagine the withdrawls ?

... our recent crazzies have been from Canada ... :D

and today this crossed my mind several times over.
I agree ... can't help it, however, not all Canadians take prybars to trunks of luxury sports sedans.

The other Episode was the French speaking separatist to my left.
They don't even want to be Canadians, so that rules that one out.

I think we've had our fun for now.

Lets try and put a dampener on insulting others.

Wouldn't that make you feel as good ?

Hey Bigrig, does your sig say "tooned" LS sig badge because that website made it for you?

It gets annoying seeing threads where people do stupid stuff to their car and wonder why they are having issues. After being on here a while all you want to do is relax and stop repeating the same :q:q:q:q 3213156461321 times a day.

I agree, I've seen it. remember the guy with the "Can I fit 15" tires on 16" rims?" same question different thread, few days later.

I see how you guys are dealing with the same questions day in day out.

You can see it on the first and second pages, I mean the repeat question on the same problems.
over and over ... I understand the frusterations, yet you guys answer and help,
when you so easily could ignore it or blow them of by telling them to read or search then read.

I still see you guys answer those questions, kudo's to you's but don't make
it a life long project of sitting here answering the same repetitive questions either. as you said, it gets frusterating.

You know the search function returns an overwhelming amount of posibilities,
causing the new member with his first post to type "HELP, I have an xx LS V8 and my ..."

you know, no-one reads the "stickies" as they should.

rather then getting pissy with others and answering the same questions,
try perhaps, throwing them a link to a previous thread on the same problem.

I've seen that as well and it does help the troubled new-comers

America is the most hated country in the world. We take :q:q:q:q from everybody else and don't complain.

Black, do me a favour ?

Can you please view this youtube clip ... see what's wrong with this picture ?
yes Homeland security is at an all time high and well justified but can you see
what's going on here ?

I cross the border many of times in my line of work and I know how it's done ...
My registration at the border actually gets me back and forth without any troubles at all, as a matter a fact,
they already know I will be showing up ahead of time, me, the truck and it's loads are already Fast-Approved and in the system.

but have a look at the video and see what can happen to regular people.

It's not cool man !

Hey Bigrig, does your sig say "tooned" LS sig badge because that website made it for you?

Yeah, a buddy of mine from Idaho, him and I used to run websites together,
he's fantastic at graphics, if you need anything done, hit him up and tell him
you saw it/me here.

he did that badge for me ... my photoshop skills couldn't never touch his.

you should see his done up chevy shortbox !!!
Skull paint job on it and all, thing flies.

let me know if your interested, I can send you a link to his Chevy page.

- Sorry to the OP about the excessive thread-jacking on my part.

Wow, glad I shut up the last time I came back from Windsor. Thought I was riding dirty, I was just with a group of friends hungover as all get out. My answers were not the best that day. It's hard to tell the guy that we were drinking and what not over there. When they took the dog in I said "oh man" and they questioned me on saying that. Just what I need, the dog's nails getting stuck in the "perforated" seats and ripping a hole in them.
