I don't ever get a CEL but about once a week I'll check for codes and I keep getting this one. The car runs fine and seems to have plenty of power. I can move the IRMC plates freely from the rear of the eninge. Any other ideas why this code pops up every once in a while? I had the intake off a few months ago and cleaned the plates and made sure they moving freely before I put everything together.

Try clearing the codes by disconnecting the battery and then reconnect and check again in a week or so, unless you see a CEL light. The codes you're seeing could be old and still stored in the memory. If you do get a light, I guess seafoam would be an option to help remove any carbon buildup that might have built up since you cleaned them.

The actuator may also be failing but you really need to be running 93 octane because it helps to keep things from gumming up with varnish, carbon, etc..

They don't really even open up until the 3000K or 3300K range so if you do use seafoam, remember that they aren't getting a cleaning at all unless you rev it up quite a few times. Or, take apart again and clean with carb cleaner. I would always run 93 and every other tank or so, put a bottle of STP or the like "fuel injector cleaner" in and while driving, run those rpm's up every once in a while to help keep them clean.

I always run 91 at every fill up as that is all they have around my area. I clear the codes with my Xcal but I can try disconnecting the battery as well.
