I don't have pictures, yet, so you'll have to excuse the lack of visual detail.

nontheless, I'm from Chicago and was looking to get a 2nd Gen Black/Black with low/decent mileage, excellent body condition with a working tailight(i know, is kinda asking too much to expect working trunk light) and found 2 very nice Marks fitting my criteria, 1 in Wisconsin and the other in Indiana both about 120miles away.

One was 89k miles, LSC, supposed excellent condition for $6500
the other 113k miles, LSC, supposed excellent condtion for $5000
(both working tail lights and nice wheels, according to dealers pics)

but shortly after finding them 2, I came across a Gold/Tan Mark VIII resembling something like this 12 miles away...

it had 57k miles(59k now), base model, heated seats, good condition(fair paint/excellent engine) for $3500!!!
(though a few cylinders misfired on way home and not during test drive, go figure..., full tune up made it run like new)

It has a fair golden paint job, which is to say it has some very minor cosmetic blemishes. Things such as slight scratches on paint, chrome trim on trunk light housing unit bubbling & peeling, driver side mirror usable but obvious something burnt behind it causing 2 burnt circles on mirr(mirror heaters?).
Interior is very clean and slippery, but the window/lock buttons are missing their decals like the lil chrome trim & arrows, ashtray cover spring is broken, steering wheel will tilt but wont telescope(hopefully it's just off the telescope track)

Feels like I did the right thing except for when i think about how much it might cost to make it real nice black paint job since I really wanted the black on black, but felt that I couldn't and SHOULDN'T pass up a Mark VIII with such low miles, especially since the blemishes it has can easily be dealt with for cheap.

Given what I've been able to describe, is it a good deal and would you have done the same?

If you have a 98 spring feature car and want a black car, sell it and buy a black car. There were only 117 of these cars made and they command a premium on Ebay. Fix the bugs and make a tidy profit.

If you like that color (I personally think it's not bad, others will disagree,) and interior color (hey, at least it's not saddle) then you got a pretty good deal.

yea don't confuse that pic as my car, i just posted it cause it has the same color while mine

A sticky for the wheels eh? :p You know i have noticed how a lot of Mark I've seen for sale online or on the street do have the front wheels facing backwards. Is how mine were until a while ago that i rotated them the other way.

That pic is of the 75xxx mile Spring Feature that the guy is asking like 30K for.

That's what I thought ... I was looking for the guy saying he paid $30,000 for it .. LOL ...

But at any rate ... a good price is a price you are satisfied paying for a car.

I've seen guys asking way too much for their cars and then someone buying them for a ridiculous amount, but if the buyer is happy ...

So if you are happy with your purchase and feel you got a great deal. Congrats.

i found a near perfect 98 lSC blk/blk with Octos and moonroof, only things bad with it are a dent in the right 1/4, blend door, clock spring---$3500

i say keep looking.. you can find a cheaper one out there that may be in even better condition
have you used the national CL search function? so you dont have to go city by city of what youre looking for, just enter the keyword and itll look at ALL CLs :)

Spring feature cars were made in both base and LSC models, and the only time that color was used on a Mark VIII was on the Spring edition cars. If you have one that color, that is what you have. More info from the evil site:

Don't paint it. It would be one of the dumber moves ever because of what you should be able to get for it.

That would be nice but mine is a '97 as opposed to the '98 Springs and the data plate says the color code is BA-Light Prairie Tan, not BH-Gold. Damn,so much for that come-up... :( I'll have to fix my cam or get new one to post pictures so you can see.

In any event, it certainly does have great miles and runs great so maybe I can still touch it up and profit a little bit, which was my original intent & attraction to it. However, I guess if I think about it, I'm probably never to come across such a low miled Mark VIII again for so cheap with low cost cosmetic issues that I might as well make her look beautiful and hold on to it.
