I don't have pictures, yet, so you'll have to excuse the lack of visual detail.
nontheless, I'm from Chicago and was looking to get a 2nd Gen Black/Black with low/decent mileage, excellent body condition with a working tailight(i know, is kinda asking too much to expect working trunk light) and found 2 very nice Marks fitting my criteria, 1 in Wisconsin and the other in Indiana both about 120miles away.
One was 89k miles, LSC, supposed excellent condition for $6500
the other 113k miles, LSC, supposed excellent condtion for $5000
(both working tail lights and nice wheels, according to dealers pics)
but shortly after finding them 2, I came across a Gold/Tan Mark VIII resembling something like this 12 miles away...
it had 57k miles(59k now), base model, heated seats, good condition(fair paint/excellent engine) for $3500!!!
(though a few cylinders misfired on way home and not during test drive, go figure..., full tune up made it run like new)
It has a fair golden paint job, which is to say it has some very minor cosmetic blemishes. Things such as slight scratches on paint, chrome trim on trunk light housing unit bubbling & peeling, driver side mirror usable but obvious something burnt behind it causing 2 burnt circles on mirr(mirror heaters?).
Interior is very clean and slippery, but the window/lock buttons are missing their decals like the lil chrome trim & arrows, ashtray cover spring is broken, steering wheel will tilt but wont telescope(hopefully it's just off the telescope track)
Feels like I did the right thing except for when i think about how much it might cost to make it real nice black paint job since I really wanted the black on black, but felt that I couldn't and SHOULDN'T pass up a Mark VIII with such low miles, especially since the blemishes it has can easily be dealt with for cheap.
Given what I've been able to describe, is it a good deal and would you have done the same?
