I have been pondering getting the Xcal3 for quite some time but haven't had the funds (and permission from the boss) to do so. So I'm looking for other advantages to having it.

I know the Xcal can read DTC's on other vehicles. My question is can it read all the "Ford Enhanced" data as well? Stuff like ABS codes, transmission data, etc. My wife's Escape just started blinking the ABS light and it would cost around $220 to get a scan tool and the ford enhanced software to go with it. And I have been helping my buddy diagnose his rough-running 03 Ranger. If I could spend the extra $$$ and just get the Xcal then we would both be happy!

Also, how does it compare as a diagnostic tool to say an Autoenginuity or similar?

Thanks,
Jim

Autoenginuity is WORLDS better as a scan tool. XCal can only read DTC's.

An AE scantool with ford specific software went up for sale here a couple years ago for around $300 IIRC. They are worth the money spent.

Good info - thanks.

Anyone here use the Scantools.net software (ScanXL) with the ford enhanced stuff? A full setup would be $220 with their ELM hardware.
