I have a bad back and forth motor. I got a replacement chassis but it sound quite involved to replace the seat on the cahhsis. So would it be easier to replace the chassis under the seat or swap just the middle motor which I think is the back and forth?

its easier to just get a good working seat track and just replace it....im in the process of chaning my passenger side track right now.......ive done 3 of them in my previous mark viiis and its the best way to go.

take out rear bolts first the inside one (15mm) is the hardest...i think i lost about 5 pounds from the sweat.....then take out the other three.....raise the seat and umplug the connector....then you can take out the seat.....next you take off the side trim where the buttons are on....one screw in the front and one in the back behind the little plastic covers....then you take it out very slowly you dont want to damage the trim bc they are hard to find and expensive....the trim is held with two pressure clips in the middle of the trim....next you unbolt the seat from the track and unscrew the side bolt thats on the inner part of the seat that holds the back of the seat to the recliner motor and you're set......to put back together just put everything back the way you took it off.

I already have the seat unbolted and all the trim removed. So getting the seat off the chassis isn't hard then? I was sort of worried about the seat back. Does it stay attached to the seat?
