Would a chip be good for me?

I have the opportunity to buy a chip with my EEC code. It is a used "legacy DiabloSport Performance chip." It is rare I see a chip with my code and I probably won't ever see one again, should I get it?

I don't race the car. I don't take it above 90MPH on the highway, if that, so removing the limiter doesn't interest me. I already have a Jmod and the trans shifts exactly the way I want it to. I also have a C&L 80mm MAF if that counts.

How much?

rayner is right, a good tune will give you more power and if you keep your foot out of it more mpg. Doesn't mean the used chip you are looing at is a good tune though.

Another thing to consider is how the chip is setup. If the trans pressures are boosted and you like the way it shifts now, you may find it too hard after. Same with shift points. Is the chip setup for a gear change or anything too?
These are some things to ask JP about if thats the one your interested in...

Ah, so this requires more work than I thought. I thought since it already had my EEC code I would be good to go.

Remember that a chip is like a book. It may have a story in it that is not compatible or needs to be re-written (reflashed) to be compatible and of benefit to your setup.

Why is Driller selling it?

Because he had a bunch of mods done and had a custom SCT chip made. ;)

I guess I could buy another Mark VIII. But if you think it's hard to find a chip with your code, try finding a car with the code to match a chip! LOL
