So got up today to go to work... put the key in our 97 lincoln Mark viii lsc... nothing... just a couple clicks... over lunch hooked two cars... both fairly little... a crappy contour my neighbor had and a sable... had to do both cause one had to go back to work... charged them for about 20 minutes each... nothing... it did however make the engine turn a little... just a tiny bit... I'm thinking it's the battery... it's been really corroded and I cleaned the terminals but nothing... I'd think it was the starter or the starter solenoid but it moved a bit... you guys have any suggestions?... thanks

Take out the battery and have it checked at an auto parts store. Since it seems most likely that it is bad, that is the first place to look. If the battery checks out, you can move on from there.

I would say the battery has seen it's last days. Might want to invest in some better terminals that don't corrode. If possible, go for the 850/1000 with the battery. I bought Duralast from AZ for $116 tax and all with a 3 year free replacement and 7 or 8 year pro rated warranty. If you don't have air ride, you could step down a little on the battery power.

When you get another battery, have that alternator checked ASAP! Also, check the pig tail for the alternator that clips in on the top. Might be broken or corroded inside. I think the new battery should do the trick though.
