Today heading to work on the highway, a car slammed on its brakes causing me to slam aswell going from 60 to 20 in a really short distance, there was no lane to change in-traffic. Right after this, the Airbag light comes on and blinks. It will blink several times then stop for a couple seconds.

I'm wondering if this has to do with braking hard, or maybe lastnight when i drove into a puddle that splashed water all over the front end/drivers side of the car??

Should i disconnect battery overnight see if that helps?

I would disconntect the battery for at least 10 minutes, and see if it still does it when you reconnect it. Then go from there.

I didn't disconnect the battery yet, the light stopped blinking today...weird.

It would blink 5 times, then not blink for a second, then blink 4 times...then it would start over again in like 4 seconds.

No code 54 in my service manual.

Sure it wasn't 53? That's a fault code that relates to primary crash sensor circuit failure.

53: Primary Crash Sensor Circuits Resistance to Ground or Internal Diagnostic Monitor Failure.
