Won the sportsman class...

your gonna have some stick tires for this race huh...

what was your best 60' on street tires?

Yea i'm getting the Toyo drag radials put on right now. Also installed two exhaust cutouts, the car feels like it pulls so much harder in the upper rpms... hopefully they wont kick me out the track because technically you have to run out the mufflers on Wed night. Also got some other tricks up my sleeve for Wed. I'm not sure if I should run street class (for trophy) or Jackpot (for money). My best 60 foot time on the Sumitimos was a 2.09 but my car was heat soaked so it ran a low 14.2 at 96mph. It ran 2.1's all day though.

If it were me... I'd run both classes.

we did that alot.

sure makes it easy to dial in the next round when you just came off a pass.

I used to use my Street race timeslips for data for my Jackpot races.

if they require mufflers on wed, then save using the cutouts for the last passes of the night, dont get kicked out before you can win the money!
(lol)

Well they only have this event 12 times a year so it's pretty competitive. There is a typo in their press release, the guy I faced in the finals did not have the same trap as me on the brakes, it was around 104mph.

Yep, didn't hit the brakes once, WOT all the way manually shifting. Same routine every time, quick burnout to clean up and heat the tires, stage shallow, 1-2 shift at 7000rpm, 2-3 shift at 6500rpm. The track was hooking so I went WOT right off idle, no feathering the throttle. All reaction times in the .0** range except one where I went a .1**. I can't remember how many rounds I went, I got one bye round though. The guy I raced in the final also got one bye round. And this isn't a fluke, I was runner up last year in sports street.

You never got out of it ever ? LOL you are one lucky SOB :p

Do you dial in slow

Do you dial in slow

you'd have to dial very very hard and kill them on the tree..
might even have to dial way UNDER your ET in order to make that work.
but..it worked.
(lol)

..this time.
*grins*

go get em serge!

I changed my dial in to a slower time when the headwind picked up a bit and my motor was running hotter...

98LSC32V you remind me of a story.

I have a friend who runs Super comp, works with my brother.
My brother builds his powerglides.
My brother had the bright Idea of using a planetary gear from a power glide that was behind a six banger.
It had the right gear ratio and was cheaper then buying aftermarket.
The planetary gear held up until Aug. they were racing in the Nats. at BIR.
Sat. last round of the day to see whos gets in on Sun.
Gary lets go of the buton we hear a BANG and the dragster rolls just far enough to start the timers.
The planetary let loose right there....there we are the three of us looking at Gary wondering WTF happened and the starter tells us to get the dragster to the scale we won.
We look at eachother like its some kind of nasty joke.
Here the guy in the other lane ran his car out and broke out.
Classic.

Did you guys get it fixed for Sunday?

Major knuckle busting.
We had a back up trans but the dam linkage was wrong so both had to come apart.
Had it ready to go Sunday morning but the dam pump leaked so the trans brake wouldnt hold.
From then on EVERY back up trans was tested before it was ever needed.
Gary had to go out Sunday and try to foot brake a super comp dragster on a pro tree.
He went out first round Sunday.
They only run four rounds on sunday.
The sportsman classes are used for fill time between the pros.
We used to call them hot dog cars, All the people leave the stands to get a hot dog when they race on sunday. :)
Lots of lessons were learned that weekend.

Got my car back, here are my four favorite timeslips:

1. In time trials, I was going up against a 99 Buick Regal GSX with a tune, pulley, headers, cold air induction and MT drag radials 255/50/16 on the front. I have seen this guy run high 13's on good weather days so I knew I needed a good run to keep up. We both did a quick burnout and staged.

So what time are the races tonight?

Like I said we'll get the wednesday night chat crew to cheer you on.

I will say this...
Running .08 off your dial wont win a single round here in texas.

Lady luck was smiling upon you.
