Anyone out there have a schematic for the factory plugs on the am/fm cassette CD player? I am waiting for riskeman to send me a good head unit. Until then, no tunes. I have a Kenwood I have had laying around from an old SHO project and I want to use it while I am in the holding pattern. I also have a a windstar unit that will take the factory plug, but will not play thru my spkrs. even though its plug ins mirror the Mk. Is this where I need to get the bypass kit for the Premium sound rear amp? Thanks in advance.

I sure hope you're using a plug and play harness.

Just get a plug and play harness and simplify everything. When you get the factory stereo brought to you, shipped to you, then remove the harness and plug in the factory unit. I would jerk it all out personally and put all aftermarket in. You will have this problem again but it might be the amp next.

I have the windstar unit that with a little dremeling will fit exactly. The plugs from it seem to match the MkVIII's. And yet, it wont play. Is this due to some internal difference? I carefully counted the plug connectors and they are identical, yet no tunes. Is this an example of when I need the rear amp bypass? The cassette is turning and the tuning seek and scan are doing their thing, yet no sound.

No other unit will work but the Lincoln radio.

agreed ford has lots of different radios that look the same and most wont swap, sometimes you get lucky but not usually. hell getting the right adapter harness to fit the linc was a pain in the ass
