Hey Guys,
I know I've been asking a lot of you lately but never having worked on cars at all it will be a while before I can start giving back to the community.
Anyways, heres my touble this time.
My wipers. The knob is super twitchy. Worse yet if the switch is working sometimes the wipers wont. Let me explain.
When I turn the knob one of three things will happen,
The wipers will work fine and I go on not asking about the problem,
The wipers will work for the first pass (Up and down) and then sit at the "On but not wiping" position
The wipers will not work at all
So obviously two of the three scenarios are bad.
Heres what I notice, if I twitch the knob back and forth it will often kick in the wipers. I dont mean changing its position (time delay) just wiggling it a bit on the current setting.
Sometimes if I hit the dash just to the left of the steering wheel it will engage the wipers.
If those first two ideas fail then I have to pull over, get out, lift one of the blades and snap it back to the window before it will start wiping again. Keep in mind thats all in the rain.
My question is obvious.
Whats the deal?
I've checked around the forum here and not really found a whole lot on it. most peoples wipers seem to get stuck while all the way up. Mine have no trouble moving, once they're engaged.
Is it the signal/wiper wand thats bad? If so where would I get a replacement. Is it the wiper motors?
Also, on a side note.
Does anybody here have a repair manual for the 94-ish continental?
Thanks again guys.
