I knew I had this problem when my harness was chewed up, now with a new harness I just noticed today that my wing light still stays lit, with the car off. I just replaced the led's b/c of this, being they stayed on and eventually all burnt out.

the led bar lights up bright with the brakes ok, but will stay dimly illuminated till the battery dies. thoughts?

Actually, it sounds like he connected the negative end of the wing light to the negative end of one of the brake lights (good) and the positive end to a live +12V feed (bad). He needs for the positive end to be connected to the positive end of one of the brake lights. Without a load resistor, the LEDs will still glow with the brake off, but they would now stop after the twenty minute battery saver timeout.
