Anyone ever try pre cut window tint ?? lol i onder how it looks and if it reall fits ?? ebay has a bunch of em

Have you ever tinted windows before? It's not hard, nor easy, but if you don't do a good job it will look like ass. Do yourself a favor and pay to have it professionally done. I paid 210 for mine and its backed by a lifetime warranty against fading, cracking or bubbling.

IIRC the sunroof is already tinted from the factory. I don't know the percentage though...I'm sure someone else knows

+1 on paying someone if you don't know how to do it because it will look like a$$.

My friend tried to use some of that pre-cut tint on his 4runner and it tore real easy. It was cheap tint. Don't go that route.

Definately go with a professional, i got my fronts at 5% and the fronts at 35%(at least they were 35 until i got a few tickets ) for about 130 with a lifetime warranty, and im pretty sure they don't like seeing me any more because they did a crappy job, but if was worth so i didnt have to deal with it all

It's about 35%.. How about if he upgrades to the professional stuff? A little more pricey but may be thicker?..

the more expensive material is generally better. I have tinted windows myself in the past and its not too hard. I did screw up the first couple I did until I got the hang of it. Needless to say I have had my windows tinted on every car I have owned since professionally. Def worth the $.

Depending on your state, most professionals will not go more than what is legal. In my state they are using a gage to check on how dark your windows are.

Yea.. I believe that in Michigan, it's either 35% or 20% that's legal.. I can't remember.. The sunroof is tinted from the factory with 35% tint..

Here in PA 70% is the law. The shop I went to only carried 5 - 30% and just made everyone sign a waiver saying it was illegal if they put it on your fronts or windshield.

Fast no its not.. Michigan you CANT have the two front windows tinted at ALL.. you can have the rear windows as dark as you want though. Sucks ass I just got pulled over the other month and had to strip my two front windows tint.. -$$$ just going to retint it myself..

I didn't think you could have the fronts tinted but I thought there was a limit on the backs.. I live in a small, hick a$$ town and the cops think it's too much work to pull anyone over anyways.. I know a few people who have all the windows tinted to 20%.. They said that you just need to have the doctor (eye doctor?) sign a note saying that the sun bothers you eyes or whatnot.. I know that if it's less than 20%, they make you rip it off regardless.. I guess they don't even follow their own rules.. :D

Edit: All but the windshield.. Forgot to add that..

Any % on front two they will give you a fix it ticket, gotta rip it off then head to a police station to show them. Rear can be as dark as you want mines 5%, and front windows... 100%.. FML

Found the law.. It says in there that everything on the front (except the first 4 inches) can't have tint.. Tint is allowed if you have a prescription..

Here it is:

Sabre (different forum) said:
Yep. There is no legal tint level in Michigan. Any front tint = illegal, unless you have an prescription for it. That is, with the exception, as the above poster touched on, of a strip that does not extend lower than the vehicle's factory-equipped flip-down visor or 4", whichever is shorter

Read the law here: MCL 257.709

I had mine done 35% on the back and 50% on the front. Per Wisconsin law. Tinter wanted to do 35% all around but I didn't want to strip it off if I got pulled over. Looks pretty good as is.

GLuck getting a doctors note though saying you need the tint.. Because if they give you a tint note when you dont NEED it and you get in a crash and kill someone. They find out you DONT need the tint the doctors liable.. I know that's a long shot but most doctors wont do it.. eye doctors that is..

And for the first 4 inch can be tinted that is the most retarded thing ever.. it looks SO so sooo stupid. And doesn't help, a visor can do that job..

I soo agree with the 4 in tint thing.. I've seen it.. Why.. Like you said, that's what a visor is for.. I do get headaches from the sun and the doctor said they would write a note (for my safety glasses to have transitions), so I'm sure I could get one but that's not the point.. I still don't like tint on the front windows like I said before.. Lol..:D I like people seeing my face so they can say, "holy crap.. He owns a car like that!"

I a guy put "Limo" tint on my S-10... It looked cool and all but it sucked at night exp since I didnt have power windows and rolling down the passenger side window with a hand crank when I came to a intersection erased any cool points I got from nice dark window tint.

Personally, I think 20% is perfect.. Not to dark and not too light.. I have tint in my ranger. Idk what it is because they tinted over factory tint (and used 20%) so its dark.. I would say 10-15%.. I like it in there but IDK so I would like it on the ls because the middle window isn't tinted in the back (besides the factory tint) so you can see better out of the rear view mirror.. My opinion though.. I know some ppl like it dark as hell and that's ok.. It's there car..

I was also auguring the point with someone who does have problems with their eyes like I do.. I NOT telling everyone, "lets tint our windows and get fake doctors notes".. I think I made it sound that way and I'm sorry.. Also, Soopa009, I hope no hard feelings.. I just wanted to let people know that they could do it if they had a prescription..

Professional tinter

Though we are in the midst of a “do-it-yourself” revolution and although the cable home shows make everything look easy the real do-it-yourselfer has come to realize nothing is as easy as it looks. The same can be said for DIY window film projects. I recommend that you have professionally done. In the long run, you will realize its worth your time and money. Trusted sites such as www.TintBuyer.com informs consumers about the relevant facts on window tints such as type of tints, quotations and will help you locate the best professional tinter near your area. I hope this one helps, thanks

Oh def no hard feelings bro! I was just throwing in my $0.02 and what I knew about the Michigan law. And yeah you can get a doctors note if you need it but if your like me that just WANT the note so I can tint it.. It's pretty tough to get I heard, never tried personally. I also hate when people are starring at me when I pull up next to them in my car.. Rather them have a blank stare on their face looking at black glass not my face.. Personally I think its annoying because everyone just has this glazzed look on their faces..
