Will these piston rings work?

I would assume, unless Ford made a change to the thickness of the ring grooves in the pistons in 98...

I would not use as this is a very critical part of your engine and to try and save $60 on something this important isn't worth it in my book. What is ring material?? etc

Yeah. Don't skimp on your rings. Way back when I used to rebuild engines, I always used Perfect Circle chrome moly rings in everything. I'd have to e-mail them and find out what the rings are made of. Or just get some good quality name brand rings that you know will be compatible and last a while.

buying cheap rings is like buying cheap condoms. it just doesn't make any sense

Ehh, looked them up, seems alot of people say good things about them, then again, they are popular with dsm cars.=/ So, who should I go with then?

Personally, like the others said, rings and bearings are the last place I would skimp on a rebuild.

Forget buying new pistons. The original pistons are more than adequate for your rebuild. Just get new rings from Max or your local Ford Dealer you'll be good to go. Unless your plans is for some big motor build, but I suspect not if you are looking at those pistons. When I took my block to the machine shop, my pistons were still good. I still have mine.

I've never really seen any proof that fancy rings are actually any better at cyl wall sealing or longevity. Personally, I wouldn't hesitate to put this in my forged SC motor...

and i have never seen any proof that the condom was defective when my dad was screwing my mom, but here i sit. if you are going to spend opwards of $2000 on an engine build why skimp on the one thing that takes the brunt of the compression and friction??????

I have seen cheap rings fold over on a turbo set up before and that sucked
