Will lincoln ever make another 2 door coupe?

My 1964 Ford Custom 'R' (new Feb. '64) would do 12s stock, so try not to get too giddy.

KS

my poiint exactly....we could go every direction possible but i am trying to remain on topic, i am not going to bring up modded 90s mirage with twin turbos that could go 9 seconds because we are talking about modern sedans/coupes...

Only would answers come this direction from the LS side of things. Telling him to buy a bimmer or a infiniti. And god forbid that under engineered piece of mopar. The only worth while decision was the Mark 8. The man is simply hoping that lincoln would make a badass in the next few years. Like the Mark was in it's day.

To answer your question you might want a four door if you shoot like this. Probably around sixty though when it's all said and done. I don't know though. Read this link http://www.lincolnvscadillac.com/showthread.php?t=62437&highlight=hennessey

There is more to performance then going in a straight line for 1/4 mile, try and stop it or go around a corner other than left. Will not even talk about gas mileage and creature comforts.

they sure as sh!t should, i just seen a CTS-V coupe drive by and it makes me cry that Lincoln wont get their sh!t together

i mean come on, who is gonna say that a M3 coupe or a S5 isnt cooler than the other side of the pillow?

They are trying to design and work on a 2door Lincoln but they dunno what engine to put in (since Ford is focusing right now on developing newer and better engines, FYI!) as well as the name.....dunno if Mark IX or MK9 or what will be the schematic of it all but they do have the 2 door on the drawing board and they keep pushing out cncept 2drs at the detroit autoshows. Right now the big decision is how to get sales up to not need bailout...Ford is doing GREAT and then once they get everything perky, they'll focus on sporty stuff as well...or as I call the "Non-essential" stuff.

With the demise of Mercury it is only a matter of time before Lincoln becomes a full lineup. Give it time and there will be a Lincoln 2 door. But, there is nothing that I've seen on the roadmap so give it 3 years at least. Anyone know if there is a compelling Euro Ford that might transition nicely to luxury?

lincolns and cadillacs are really nothing more than a fancy ford or chevy

and acura's, infinity's, audi's, lexus's, are nothing more than a fancy honda, nissan, volkswagen, or toyota

yea car companies make a nice car then strip it down to make it affordable and sell it under a different name, that just the way that it works

with 50K, I would try to find an M3 coupe if you desperately need 2 doors. I need 4 doors because of a family. If I were to upgrade, I'd be setting my sights on an M5 sedan.

To answer the OP's question, nothing in the works. At least, nothing close to a production model.

I have looked at the M5......nice, can't afford new and not sold on the V10 ones......but nice. It is just too bad there was not a 3rd gen LS that Lincoln kept on a development/refinement path, need to look at a new S Jag or XF/XJ.

i'm not going to lie, if lincoln doesn't build a beast with the new 5.0 in it, im looking at a CTS-V(i dont care how many doors it has as long as its got 550+hp) or a Mark for my terminator next

my dad works for ford and was at one of there big "what is the company doing in the future" meetings and they were talking about building a new flagship car for linclon that would be competitive with a cts-v now weather it will be 4 door or 2 door and what will be powering it idk. at least the ball has started to roll thow. i would expect seeing a car like this in 3 or 4 year. also the mustang should be getting an IRS on 2013-2014!

I am a big fan of the 2002 model, whatever style that was. Too bad it's that old already.

I agree the E39 M5(1998-2003) is a great looking series and affordable, it is the same years the Lincoln LS was modeled after, guess that is why we like it.

For all the BMW fans out there....I know they look good on paper, but they're not. The M's are way over priced for what you get. The 40-50k 3 or 5 series come with no frills and are pretty sad for the power they put out. My wife told me I could buy any car I want in the fall (within reason) and I test drove alot of cars. We own a 2006 Pathfinder and my 2001 LS V8. I drove.......

and the really rare pleasure of a 2010 infiniti M56. (5.6 liter hard erection on wheels)

The BMW's of today don't feel like they used to. They are built like fancy Honda's. The pedal to throttle felt like a dial up conection. Don't know what's going on in Germany, but it ain't good unless you got over 80k.

You want a good, fast well built sedan for under 50k, Get a G37x sport. You want a coupe.....same way. Best bang for buck. You want American? The chargers and chalengers and camero's look really kewl....but putting a huge engine in a piece of crap only gives you a piece of crap. Buy a Mustang. The new ones are fast, sexy, and have alot of neat tech stuff too. And you can get a fuel effiecient model now too .

I'd buy the M56 if I had the money. We are gonna get a 2010 G37 sport convertible.

ive got a feeling that they will, since cadillac just build their first coupe this year, hopefully they name it a markxxx something, would that be cool, that will bring us back in popularity!!!and at the same time build the next ford thunderbird SC with the 3.6 ecoboost engine!!please.!!!!!!!!!!!than again it'll probably be a taurus coupe instead.:(since they've got the 3.6 ecoboost engine that doing well in production, ive have a hunch that its in the process. sweeet!!!!!lets cross our fingers......

All that you said is a self serving statement to justify your choice and you are of course entitled to that.

The G37, to me, is sole less and looks like most cars coming out of the pacific rim. They change there style every couple of years and look like nothing like a prior style and are only good for the current style.

At least you can look at a BMW 15 plus years old and a current one and see their heritage that last. IMHO

It'll end up being gay.....like the Zepher, Mkz, and everything else they have tried to replace the LS with. Prob front wheel drive. They need to do a "Mark9" with the same power train options as the new mustangs. One V8 and one ecoboost V6. That would be sweet. That way too all the aftermarket power options would be available for both cars.

IMHO i think if ford is going to make a coupe its going to be a taurus sho coupe, and if they did a lincoln version of it i think they would continue on the mark series

btw, nice choice on the new car, i don't think i would have gone with the convertible

can't argue with that, and living in houston you won't really have to deal with cold air or anything

There are persistent rumors of a Mustang-based Lincoln coupe (they spiked again when the new '11 Mustang was revealed), and J Mays himself said that Lincoln would be doing a coupe, but not until they got the sedans right. The sedans are "right" (as in profitable and following a coherent design language), but the future of the coupe is not generally known--anyone who does know is doing a good job of keeping it under his hat. They're certainly not going to be available in '11, and probably not in '12. If they're doing something Mustang-based, I would expect it to coincide with the Mustang's next refresh, which should be in, what, 2013 or 2014?
