So about 6 months ago I started hearing a loud klunk from the front end, so i took it to Midas (dont ask why, I just did), they told me that it was the struts so I replaced them, then the klunk continued so i took it back and bitched like none other, they then said it was the ball joint (which i told them it was originally) so he said buy it and we wont charge installation. So last monday I did that but it was a new manager and he said he would do that for no charge. They gave it back and the klunk continued so I took it back, then they said it was the stabilizer links so they ordered the parts and fixed that yesterday. I drove the car and it drives like it never has before. I go inside to pay and he said there was no charge and that he gave me a complete check up (oil, fluids) then he said that my pads were bad and they swapped them out. All of this for nothing just to keep a customer happy and that the old manager is in jail for fraud. I was soo shocked. Anyways I just wanted to share my story i still cant believe it.

Are you telling me you found out what our famous clicking sound from the front end is. STABILIZERS. Might want to let everyone know. I think the clunking is a common question.

Yeah, the ball joint was bad and did need to be replaced, the struts I guess were bad, never got to look at them. But with all of those repairs being done the klunking was still there up until the replaced the whole stabilzer assembly. It was a hard diagnosis, they shook everything, checked everything, they even looked at this earlier and didnt catch it. It was moving so slightly that it was a hard thing to catch. Im real proud of the customer service I got after all this run around.

did the clunking happen only over bumps and a contoured road? i have a clunking only when on roads that are not perfect, just trying to find out the fix, prolly just gonna do everything like you did. but i still want to know

im thinking the clunking was your front brake pads. I replaced EVERY (and I mean EVERY) front end suspension componenet in my car due to poor performance and also the clucking noise. Turned out the brake pads or shims were shot and when I put new pads in it went away...

when my car clunked a while ago i jus changed the stabilizers, i also had to change the control arms but the stabilizers were for the clunking

I had a clunking problem on my old STS that drove me nuts. Even if it was on a perfectly flat road it would still clunk. Turned out to be the end links on the sway bar. They were just like the ones on the LS, and there is practically no way to tell if they're bad unless you just replace them.
