I have used this method on smaller parts over the years from bolts to pulleys (even lawn mower blades), but realized I have not seen it really discussed on here. For the small parts I use a small plug in transformer with the end connector cut off. For larger parts I use a battery charger. I have even used table salt when I ran out of baking soda, though the parts have to be rinsed well afterward. I am thinking of doing this to some of the parts I will be reusing when I do my suspension swap instead of buying new parts (fasteners, etc). I tell you what, it beats the hell out of scrubbing and scraping. Anyone have a rig set up for this?

looks like something that if you dont know what your doing.... you could have some problems. ill stick to a bead blaster.

As long as you don't stick your hands in the solution and follow procedures, it is actually pretty safe. It will get to places you can't get to otherwise on larger parts.

I used to do the same thing to make HHO for my bronco. depending on the catalyst you use depends on the by product of the water. for the most part i under stand that using the method above works wonders for stripping rust off small objects. the hydrogen is very explosive but unless its building up in a small area you should have any worries.
