trying to decide between doing the airbox mod with a k&n filter, or the cone setup listed on lskoncepts. my convern is the open filter sucking in hot air, therefore negaiting any gained power. what is your opinion.

if you want a power/sound gain get the cone from kkm
i got it and i like it, but you should definetly make a shield for it someday
as i need to as well....
anyone taken the intake silencer off the v8 (dont mean to jack your thread)

no offense to ls koncepts, but couldn't you just get any cone filter and have the same results?

the art of the cone is - maximizing the size that will fit in the area (giving you more filter area to breath through) matched to an adapter the fits both the intake tube and the cone - at the right angles to fit under the hood.

You can absolutely build them yourself - the question is always - can you do it (time and money) and get better results

eh, i think i will play it safe and get the kkm. anyone here build heat shields for the v8?

edit: also, is llsoc any better than this site(more threads/info)? can't peek at it, and $40 to join.

do a search on it - there are 'several' versions floating across the members.

I don't make the KKM induction kit I just sell it as a distributor. Warren at KKM is the mastermind behind the induction kit.

As for a heat shield I know some folks are using a cheap alternative to a box. You can view it here:

Of course you can make your own heat shield or air box for the KKM kit.

it's better - but the stock intake tube has sound baffles designed to counter intake noise.... so you don't get as much gain using only a replacement filter.

However if I get the tube and KKM filter it will be a "nice" improvement. I am trying to decide between going full exhaust or saying a few bucks and getting a good intake system

Well - the intake got me more hp than the exhaust....

- but the exhaust is more noticable in both sight and sound.....

I did that a while ago because one of them was starting to come off anyway. The difference in sound is barely noticeable. I wouldn't bother unless they are already coming off.

mine came off

I had my car serviced for the mis-fire issue.. and I noticed that my car was lagging a bit so I looked under the hood and checked out the silencer sure enough the bottom section had torn away and was only haging on by the top so I went ahead a tore it off and sealed the hole with plexi-glass like another LS I have seen on here. it makes quite a difference in the tone with my intake I also have a manual tranny so I can run the gears a lttle longer and get agreat sound out of it. but I think my gas mileage may be suffering either that or I need to lighten up on my foot :joke
