Where to Find some stuff?

Hey, I'm new to the LS thing, I've done alot of google'ing and cant seem to find anywhere to buy replacement exterior trim. We r looking to replace all the chrome with black, or preferably, black chrome.

Also, whats with the plastic crap under the hood like the t-stat housing and the other plastic thing that bolts to the block right above the t-stat, the one that goes to the upper radiator hose. Is there any companies out there that make an aluminum replacement? Ours is very brittle and is already chipped, but luckily the hose goes over whats missing and it still seals.

Thanks in advance for any help you guys give. And if n e one has n e more tips or advice, feel free to chime in.

If you want to black out the chrome trim, your on your own.. Tear it apart and either paint it yourself or have someone paint/chrome it..

Nope.. I'm trying to get some parts made (if you have a Gen 1) that have to deal with the cooling.. I have already made the designs at the machine shop and they have some trial fit pieces for me to pick up.. :cool:

Don't do that. Buy some black vinyl blackout tape. Much better and easier.
 
I've considered the vinyl tape, would really prefer black chrome but I guess its not available.

When you get them pieces test fitted, let me know how it turns out. You would think someone would mass produce that crap by now, Hell, the car has been out for 10 yrs

Well, when less were made in 6 model years (less than 200K) than Mustangs are sold in less than a year, I wouldn't count on much. Plus, the LS is an orphan car; much like the Edsel!
 
Yeah the car has been out for 10 years but was only made for about 7.

And its not a sports car either.

we are lucky to have the aftermarket that we do have such as the intakes, springs, tuner, and exhaust.

If they were ever going to do that, they would have while the LS was still being made. Now, I think there is zero chance of it happening. The market just isn't there. There weren't that many LSes made, and the number on the road is dropping.
 
Well... I still think its pretty gay. And we've only had this car for 3 days and its already being a royal pain in my arss. Tomorrow its looking like I gotta replace the CHT sender and I just know that when I am taking off or putting back on the intake manifold, its gonna tap one of them dern plastic cooling terds and destroy it and its gonna make me :mad::soapbox::mad:
 
Remember to drain your coolant.. ;)

I should have the cooling part run offs made within the next two weeks.. So I'll tweak my designs if anyone is interested..
 
I might be as long as u dont want what some of the manufacturers want for similar type parts for my powerstroke. Geez, I think it would be easier to trade them my first born than pay what some of them want.:eek: But if all doesnt go well tomorrow, a few weeks just aint gonna cut it
 
I really don't want any profit.. I just want to help out the community..

They may be a tad more than the plastic ones though (Aluminum isn't cheap).. I have a 2000 and recently took the intake off for my SC project.. I didn't break any cooling parts and she has 98k on the clock..
 
I'm just saying with my luck I'll have a slippery residue from the antifreeze and I'll step on the cat, or hit my head or the little one will interrupt me and I'll drop the damn thing right on it. I had it off the other day to put a thermostat in and its already chiped but the hose slides over the chunk thats missing and still seals. Its very brittle already and its just my luck that it will go down like that. If I do end up looking for one, is that available at and autozone or place like that or is it a dealer part? And what the hell is it called?
