Where is the Digital Transmission Range (sensor) aka MLPS aka TRS aka neutral safety switch located on a 1997 Lincoln Mark VIII ?

Yes, but make sure that you order for correct year of your car.
The MLSP was changed, don't remember when.

Tbird,

Thanks for the replies.

How do I check the DTR to determine if it is the problem ?

Is it easily disconnected ?

1992-1997 it's a analog signal, this was changed from 1998.
Here is a guide to check the MLPS Manual Lever Position (MLP) Sensor
It's easy to disconect, but take care of that there is an adjustment of the unit. Just elonged slots for the screws.

Tbird,

Thanks for the diagnostic link.

How do you disconnect the MLPS ? Does it pull off or is it bolted on ?

The MLPS is covered with oil and other buildup so it's difficult to see what's holding it in place. It's an original part and I want to avoid breaking it.
