I would like to order a performance chip from licolnmotorsports but I am not sure were the computer is or what nimbers are the catch code can someone help.. thanks Robert

Open the drivers side door and kneel down and look under the dash. You should be able to see the computer, its a silver box. Pull it down and the code is by the plug in, should be a combo of numbers and lets 5 digits or so I believe...

CMBA0 is mine I think....

sorry it a 1997

I have put a cold air tube on it,adjustable fuel pressure regulator, 2.5 inch pipes with magna flow mufflers, 125hp nos kit and serviced everything with lucus full synthetic and was looking for a chip or programmer that would get me more horsepower and make that tranny shift better thats why I thought there chip would be greatbecause they state that it will take the 90% slippage out but I am open to all suggestions.. robert

I use the SCT pro racer package and an Xcal 2 on my 98 LSC.

I didn't take 90% of the slip out of the trans, I took 100% of the slip out.

Over the last two weeks I drove 1600 miles, on two seperate trips and got 28MPG on the first leg of the trip and on the downleg trip home I got 29MPG.

this is my own custom tune not a canned tune from an online vendor.

BTC0 is yours and mine..

CMBA0 isn't a catch code, CMBA0 is the "STRATEGY" that the BTC0 catch code uses.

CMBA0 goes with btc0 (last digit is always a number)
CMBA1 is the MXL3 catch codes strategy if I remember correctly.

I have an xcal with a CMBA1 strategy from dennis reinhart, and I flashed it over my CMBA0 strategy and it ran just fine.
I used this for testing, and comparison to my custom tune.

I drove the reinhart tune for about a week before flashing back to my custom tune. I like MINE better, but that is a personal preference more than an actual comparison.

I agree with getting an Xcal. A dyno tune would serve you better especially with mods. But a mail order tune will help just as much as a mail order chip plus will give you tuning options and is easier to change your tune for gear changes/more mods.

great info

Hey thanks for all your input and info keep it coming if you have more..Robert

Woops... I get those two confused... :D

If you have a 19997 Mark VIII your teartag catch code will be one of these:

RKK0
RKK6

BLX0
BLX6

GGW0
GGW1

In the RKK and BLX series they go from 0-6 so there is actually RKK1, RKK2, and so on. For purpose of brevity I will only post the first and last codes in a catch code series.

I hope this helps anyone who is trying to look for the code on their car but doesn't kow which numbers are which. Sometimes there are multiple alphanumeric codes on a PCM that tend to confuse people newer to tuning.

Call me up we have the programmer, the Sniper Special Forces. We talked about it on the phone. CHeapest pricing on it in the USA.

Oh gosh no. I transitioned away from 2.9 a long time ago. Adv 3.0 is much better.

I use a combo of both.. I found that sometimes the speedlimiter wont "go away" in 3.0, but in 2.9 it doesnt screw up like it does in 3.0.

turning off the rear 02's sometimes doesnt work in 3.0 either, but does work in my 2.9

You dont have a 2nd gen mark 8 2.9 database to compare stock values with do you? any catch code will do..
