I thought about creating this thread because alot of people complain about buying a "turd". I am thinking the previous owners as well as the selling dealership has alot to do with this. When your buying any vehicle much less a high end luxury car its so important to do your homework, on the individual car and the dealership or the person selling it.

With that said i have bought both my LS's from a dealer that sells used fleet vehicles. They get inspected, serviced and come with a 30 day warranty if not still under factory warranty. Both my father and I have bought cars from them and both of us have received good service. I figure a one owner coporate lease car SHOULD be taken car of well. The type of business person who would choose a LS as their car is also probably a responsible person with a good job. Both my LS's were in great physical shape, both have run good. The new '05 has had several trips to the dealer for repair, but all covered under warranty.

I bought mine from Joe Rizza "World of Cars" in Orland Park, IL, they have like every make and model. www.rizzacars.com my car was originally purchased and titled in Mississippi, was brought to IL and auctioned at a local place down the street from me where a Rizza employee purchased it for himself. He put about 40k on it to where it is now 58k. Car is in great physical shape, just needs valve cover gaskets(warranty), valve body(warranty), tranny solenoid(warranty), new tires(giving to me at dealer cost, free install + balancing), trunk lid was keyed(fixing for free). Overall they have amazing respect for buyers and treated me great, even when they saw the piece of junk I was trading in, lol.

EDIT: I purchased the 3yr/36k warranty too for $2200(probably already payed itself off with those 3 repairs)

Sansone's Route 1 Automall in NJ. Worked in a 3/36000 extended warranty into the final price and it had a set of brand new Falkens on it. Friend of mine looked up the OASIS report for me, and the car had some minor warranty work done previously (seat back fell off, driver's seat heating element, leaking tail light, new cat, and I think a window regulator or two). The car has some minor stuff that I've come to find out doesn't work right - cruise control, air bag light comes on once in a while, and the passenger front seat belt doesn't retract on it's own. All minor stuff, IMO.

bought mines from Miami Holman Lincoln Mercury, in late November.

well i bought mine off my brother who crashed it so I am using it to fix it up and turn it around into a show car but its got like 100,000 miles on it which sucks but it still runs great my brother is actually only the second owner of it...he bought it from a used dealership in jersey for pretty cheap...what i love about it is the 5spd transmission though

bought mine in sea park apartments in satellite beach. private owner. had to put a down payment, the first day i saw it, of a $100 because he had numerous other people looking into it. a week later gave him the cash adn walked away. only thing was he was from britain and didn't know how to write the mileage in the title and made a minor error and the title says "void if altered". later that week in wilmington, cops raped my car thinking i had stole it and i had drugs b.c the 30 day tag i was TOLD to put in the rear glass and it being night, they couldn't see it.

holyy sh*tt east coast haha thatt must have suckedd just gott it and u gett raided by cops cause theyy couldnt see the 30day tag haha

I assume this thread is about USED cars?
Used or new. I havent heard of any original owners with a 00-02 here? I know there are a few new owners of the 03+, especially '06. But i'm talking about where it was bought(kind of dealer, Lincoln or Jimmy's Used Car Bonanza), the background (one owner, family member, etc.), did it come with any warranty or guarantee? The answers so far have been good.

Longwood Lincoln-Mercury, a few months later the CEL light came on - not covered under any type of warranty. I've had the valve covers, COPs (both done at Central Fl LM - raped on cost), O2 sensors (Greeneway Ford) and PATS (Tropical Ford) replaced within the first year of ownership and the CEL is on again. Each dealership seemed a little shady on their quotes and reasons for the automotive work. Now I'm in Melbourne, hopefully there is a decent place here.
I wish I would've known about the offleaseonly.com web-site when I was shopping for an LS. They have some great deals, I might be getting a car for the wife from there. Its good to know that they offer good service also.

OK, I bought mine from a LM dealer with a full factory warranty. It had 7 miles on the odo when I took delivery, 5 of which were put on my me during my test drive the previous day. Did I mention that I don't do USED cars? I refuse to sit in a seat where some other slob has been pooting for 25K miles. Feh.

My parents leased an Aviator in 03 so when it came time to search for my dream car the first brand I checked out was Lincoln. Honestly, I don't think I knew what an LS looked like until then, hahaha. I was searching for LS's online and narrowed the selection down to about 5, visited three dealerships before I found a beautiful 01 silver at Multi Chevrolet in Union, NJ.

The first dealership and dad and I visited, the owner showed us a blue 00, we test drove it and was in shock, there would be no other model car for me whatsoever lol. After the test drive the guy told us he drove it to and from the dealership and "loved" it. He didn't want to negociate on the price, warranty, anything one bit. He was kind of a dick, actually haha

Graham Ford in Downtown Columbus. Carfax said it came from New York. I got the balance of the factory warranty and offered an extended but I always refuse them. The guy looked at me all stupid when I told him I didn't want the warranty, it kind of made me nervous but I really wanted the car. He said "that's a Lincoln, you can't work on it" that just pissed me off and I said "bullsh!T, It's got a motor, 4 wheels and a transmission doesn't it?" LOL

Those warranties are crap anyway. You usually have to pay a $500 deductable per year, so WTF good is it. They are usually voided if you modify the car anyway.

LOL? My warranty covers everything that is not a WEAR item(brake pads, rotors, filters, tires, seats, carpet, etc.) so basically EVERYTHING is covered except basic maintenance parts, and the deductable is 100 PER VISIT, so when I go in to have repairs that may cost like 2000 dollars and I only have to pay 100, I'm pretty sure the $2200 3 yr warranty is pretty NON-CRAP.

i actually bought mine from Brevard Chrysler Dodge Jeep in Titusville. yeah that sounds funny but it was a trade in from an older guy who bought one of the SRT-8 magnums. It was perfect for the first 5,000 miles, but then came 3 (now 4) window regulators, valvecover gaskets, 8 coils, new valve body on the transmission, a supposed clockspring...(still working that out think its the cruise control module), and the a/c blows hot after a while (DCCV valve i believe). I need to soon get some new tie rod bushings and fix the a/c, so you could call it a turd, but i still love my LS :D . (wish i bought a damn warranty tho  )

so 2200 capitalized with interest over how ever long you took a loan out on your car for times the interest rate.

so 2200 at lets say 7.5% for oh, 5 years...

Your 2200 3 year warranty just cost you an additional ~$450 over the next 5 years, plus your $100 per visit. So in 3 years all that happens is your coils go out. ~$800, yeah, you got out of there for $100. Sure you did. Try they took you for $1950

2200
450
100
2750
-800
1950:shifty:

The only way you will ever get that 2650 back is if you lose a motor or a tranny. Pretty much the only way you are going to blow a motor or tranny in an LS is if you are a MORON who beats his car like it owes him money or never changes the fluids.

North Florida Lincoln Mercury. My car had one owner prior. He traded it in because he wanted more room. I took it home the same day he traded it in.

I've known two people who blew the engine in an LS (one V8, one V6), and neither failure was caused by poor maintenance--both were caused by failures of the materials in the bottom end of the engine. It's an exceedingly rare occurrence, but it can "just happen."

But yes, I would agree with your point--in general, extended warranties are losing propositions from a financial point of view (at least from the consumer's point of view). They have to be, or the warranty underwriters would go out of business.

BTW, I bought my first LS (an '04 V8) from the Mazda store of a Ford/Lincoln-Mercury/Mazda dealership. The '06 I bought from the Lincoln store (although my salesman was actually from the Ford store).

First one I leased new from Jackson LM in Jonesboro GA.

Second one I bought new from same dealer with 0 down and 0 % financing. Basically with 0% my 03 was cheaper to buy than lease...

I bought mine from Northeast Lincoln Mercury in Philadelphia.
My father-in-law was turning it in as his lease was up and I bought it at the Dealer buyout. It had 11,400 miles on it and I have all the maintenance history up to that point in a file.
It has never been back to the dealer since.

Infact it turned out to be such a good family car, that a second one will be joining the family soon.

So in other words, your wife wants one too. :D

We bought ours from Carmax....Very happy with the transaction, and service after the sale.
