I averaged 17.5 to 18 MPG for six years. Then this past summer it fell 14.5 MPG seemingly instantly. Any random guesses? I haven't invested the time to chase anything because it runs fine and I've done the more obvious tune up items. Gen I v8.
Mileage: 210k
Replaced since mileage hit noticed:
O2 sensors (were original, cats looked perfect through a borescope)
fuel filter
IAT gasket (dried out, fell apart)
tranny filter replaced (was clogged, causing pump to whine)
Replaced back at 140k:
plugs, coils
Brakes don't drag, tires inflated. It has the big single tube cold intake kit with a washable filter. I wash the filter and clean the MAF every other oil change.
Current theory is north texas changed the ethanol mix, or my kids have been siphoning gas.
