I got a 2000 LS V8 w/ 85,000 miles. Not bad for a 2000. Here's the story:

The car is(was) in pretty good condition. I need a new windshield and tires so thats really not major, so Im expecting that. Instead of buying some new 16" tires, I figured that I'll just get some 18's. (you know, a whole new set-up). So Im on my way to a friend of mines tire shop riding with the windows down, enjoying the weather when all of a sudden someone just makes their way into my lane, I hit the brakes/hit the horn/and......nothing happens. Whew, but wait my horn didn't blow. I tap it couple of times...nothing. I have noticed my volume acting funny (Volume Up= Down, vice a versa). I'll just get that checked out. I make it to my friends shop, safely, and roll the window up and hear a funny noise. I roll it back down and try to roll it up to see what it was and half the window goes up. Well my dumbass continues to do it again praying that it goes up and it doesn't. So I cancel on getting the tires and I come back home to the visit the trusty ole LincolnvsCadillac forum (heavenly "ahhhh"). Guess what the first thread I see is about, The airbag light blinking. After reading that thread I confimed that I need a clockspring because the do hicky under the seat is fine. Also I remember someone replacing their window regulator. I took it to the shop this morining to get it fixed. This not to mention the misefire on coil 7 and 3, thats oh so common.

I love driving my LS, but when things like this happen all at the same time, it makes Using a screwdriver to cut roast beef seem like a lot more fun.

I hear you. But look on the bright side. Because of this forum, you've just saved yourself a few hundred JUST in diagnostic fees. And if you order the clockspring and regulator online, and get all 8 coils for under $150 on ebay and do everything yourself? You've saved at least $1500 to $2000 in dealership costs. Even if you decide you dont want to tackle the drivers side cylinder bank for those tough coils..you are coming out ahead. Oh yeah..I'd replace the valve cover gaskets at the same time you replace the coils..even if the current gaskets arent leaking/have never been replaced.

I never looked at the forum that way as a "Free Diagnostic". But I'm ordering the 8 coil package next week, Its to late to get the regulator as its getting fixed as we speak..or type. you're right I prob spend about 500 on parts and $1500 on labor/diag. Thats NUCKING FUTS!
