I know there's a string in here for what I'm going to ask, and have read most of it, but didn't see what I was looking for. so because I'm in the run today, I'll ask it here, due to limited time.
17X9, 36 offset, 5x108 MK bolt pattern wheel. what size/width tire can I use on this size wheel, that is wide, but is close to the stock size(225/60x16), that will not run on anything, and not throw off the speedo mph? Found a deal on some wheels I want for my 95 LSC, and don't want any rub issues, if at all possible.
Thanks for your input & help!

There are no real good exact match diameter tires for that wide of a 17 inch rim.

I personally have ran 245/45/17 (which is real short, but a common size for Mustangs, for example), then just that size in front, with 255/45/17 in the rear. Now I am now running 255/45/17 all around, they are .5 inches shorter that 225/60/16, at 60 mph actual the speedometer will read 58.6 mph.

275/45/17 is the closest to OEM diameter, I have never ran them, I could see lots of rubbing or work required in the front and rear.

This is my car, a 97, with cheapo set of springs replacing the air suspension. They seem about 1 inch taller than the lowering springs I ran on my 97 Cougar. I have had one episode of rubbing in the back, with my older tires (255/45/17 but squarer shouldered) with 5 people in the car, 200 pounds in the trunk, and hitting a pretty nasty drain channel.

here is it with 245/45/17 in front, 255/45/17 in the rear:

and with 215/60/16 (what it came with when I bought it):

and with 0/0/0:

speedo's are over rated.

i'd say 275/40-17 rear and 245/45-17 front.

I have the cobra r's in 17x9 all the way around with 255's. They rub once in a big while but only when my 250lb son is sitting in the back seat. My car is pretty low though on springs.
