Whats up with this?

try rotating the spring, or it may be upside down, i had to play around with my drivers side spring too, but the difference was still there........

now with the Vogtland springs its nice and even, and way stiffer than the conversion springs.........
 
where can you get vogtland springs...the website only lists them for the mkz/zephyr

What about stiffer front springs? That's my only complaint about non-air. the front sometimes "bottoms out" with the american air 1.5" setup.

use the Vogtlands, the front springs in the conversion are WAY too soft for the lowered version, they may be fine in stock height.......i had the lowered kit so i wouldnt know about the stock height one

i used the Koni shocks with the conversion springs and it still didnt feel right..........until i switched over to the Vogtlands now its normal, front is matched to the back..........
 
OK, finally had some time to work on the 97. I rotated the spring 180*, no change. Took it out and flipped it upside down, no change. took everything off again and rotated it 180*, no change. Thats when I said WTFO!

So then I got a brain storm. I still had the old air struts laying around and got to looking at them and decided I could use one to make an adapter to raise one side the 1/2" I needed.

First thing I did was seperate the rubber bladder from the lower part of the strut. The upper part that attaches to the bladder is tapered which is perfect to place the new spring on top of it. Dont have to worry about it slipping off or anything.

Next I put the spring on that piece and measured 3/4" down from where the spring stopped on the tapered part. I went with 3/4" in case I screwed up somewhere along the line. Its easier to take more off than to add more. Then I measured it all the way around to make sure it was even and drew my cut line.

Next I used my hacksaw to do the cut. Being careful to keep it straight. After I was done I ended up with exactly what I needed. Something strong enough to hold the weight of the car, and just the right size for the spring to fit on, and just tall enough to raise that side of the rear up to be level with the other side.

Dont mean to toot my own horn, but I am proud of my self. Its not too often I have "good" ideas when it comes to making up ways to fix my car LOL.

Tell me about these springs. I don't like my coilovers and am in the market for another pair. Are there a lowered set available?
