Whats the difference in 00-02 and 03 and up motors?

I have a 2000 lincoln ls v8.I am wondering why my motor has 260 horse and the newer ones have 280 horses.Also will an 05 lse grill fit on my 2000?Please reply because im really eager to know.

You only have 252HP the Gen2 motors(v6 and v8) have VVT (variable valve timing)

Among other things, the Gen II (2003-2006) V8 was upgraded with VVT (Variable Valve Timing), an improved intake manifold, which moved the throttle body to the front of the engine for better air flow and a improved exhaust system, which also has better flow.

No! You can not mix match 1st gen and 2nd gen because of the different computer language. I suppose it could be done with a lot of $$$, you could be the first.

Yes, don't forget the Gen2 is throttle by wire vs. the classic cable in the Gen1.

No! You can not mix match 1st gen and 2nd gen because of the different computer language.

all of the above, plus you wouldnt have the Variable Valve Timing

if you want more power, your going to have to do the standard (CAI, exhuast, and tune)

But we all know the truth that Gen2 are just pieces of crap anyway. They made them throttle by wire becuase Ford knows Gen2 drivers are to dumb to properly use a gas pedal.

I have, but not in an LS. They weren't that much horsepower, but did have plenty of low end torque to get rolling with. On a good day, you might get 8 MPG.

Trust me the LS with the 460 is plenty fast, although from what I hear working on them is difficult due to the lack of space in the engine bay.
