go to www.supercoupeperformance.com and get the art carr one i think it is 1800 and ready to "plug and play" 300 core refundable on delivery of old tranny, thats what i'm doing, also check out genos site lincoln motorsport, the link is at the bottom, pm him and ask his tranny prices...theyre close to the art carr in price and bullet proof....maybe he can chime in here to help.....but do it, certified transmission wanted 2800 to rebuild mine....no way!!!! check at where i suggested. :Beer

I would really watch out with that art Carr BS I have heard from different people that his rebuilds are the same kits that the dealer uses, a good reason why dint go that direction is I went to TCCOA on there forum and did a search for art Carr and most of what came up was negative feedback, plus I’m still building mine for cheaper than the art Carr one. Like I said before go to lentech.com or give Geno a call I know he can help. There is no such thing as a bulletproof tranny; the best thing to do is it to have it specially built for your application for the best longevity eventually some thing has to give, sorry not trying to bash you viiiball this is just what I have learned.

everyone is entitled to their opinion,no big deal, also i didn't know that much about the art carr, but geno has said his are bullet proof, maybe he can clarify what he means by that, but i would go with lms,ask geno jeff

well so far as i see it the three best options are
1) build your own ($1100-$1400 no warenty)
2) buy one from lentech ($1500-$2500 1 year)
3) get it from geno (i dont know cal him)

I believe all that is needed is to repin the MLPS harness plug on a '93 harness to use a '98 4R70W. You can pick up a lo mileage '98 tranny, add a Baumann Engineering shift kit and high stall converter of your choice with the install for a lot less than most options. If you are not going with a power adder, that's probably all you need besides Mercon V, a good tranny cooler and maintenance IMHO.

is repinning as simple as removing or adding pins to the 93 harness to match that of the 98? or certain wires have to be moved around?

I apologize, it's not only the MLPS... http://www.tccoa.com/articles/tranny/transmission/page16.shtml

I have the EVTM/wiring diagrams for the '93. If someone has the '98 we could refresh my memory.

I think most have used the '98 harness and cut/spliced to the '93 wiring.

Transmission On Its Late Leg And What To Upgrade But Iplan On Adding A Supercharger And Performnace Equipment What Would Be My Best Deal Or Way To Go For A Transmission

I put a 98 tranny in my son's Mark...That was I nightmare for me. The 98 transmission had more problems than the original one. I was better off rebuilding the 93. That is what I ended up doing anyway. Shifts great now.

i put a 2002 mustang gt trans in my 95
Swapped mlps, one solenoid inside and repinned harness(simply moved pins from one hole in bulkhead connector to another).
i got the trans with 60k on it for $400, and decided to do this since i read on mustang sites the late gt trans were factory rated for upto 450 hp,i know i will never exceed that level.

I had absolutely no problems after converting(some peeps have had there share of probs,i guess i got lucky)
i absolutley love how the gt trans shifts with my stock computer ,the 1-2 shift is wonderfully firm and the 2-3,3-4 shifts are quite nice too, considering i did nothing like jmod or anything, just the fact that the gt trans valve body flows better made my car exactly how i wanted it trans-wise.plus as i said before,i did this on a stone driveway with jackstands and absolutley 100% by myself start to finish,an extra hand here or there would have helped but i didnt have that option,so if i can do it,anybody can, just take your time and think about what your doing.

other benefits were deeper trans pan and of course all the upgrade to the 4r70w since 1995 (1993).
oh,and the speedo was off because the later trans have 8 tooth shaft instead of 7, speedcal fixed that though.

good luck with whatever choice you decide

I'va had an Art Carr in my 90 Supercoupe. Tranny was Fine. I likethe fact they bench dynotest their trannies and include a result sheet with the trnny.
The sheet lists line pressures and some other stuff. Just don't get a non lock-up converter, and don't get it from that Evanoff shyster over at supercoupeperformace.com
