There is a good deal on an insurance company auction LS. Problem is they "junked out" the title. So all the auction can provide is a bill of sale. Is there any way to get a salvage title or new title for this LS or is it destined for the junkyard? Its a good looking car so I'm not sure why they junked the title. Most likely for tax and liability reasons I'm guessing.

I dont know anything about that, but I always heard to stay away from rebuilt and salvage titles and whatnot, I heard from a few people that theyre either a b*tch to get insured, or the insurance is way overpriced for some reason...then again it may not be true....I believe it cus ive heard it from alot of people.

I'm pretty sure you can apply to replace a lost title.

You can get the vehicle bonded (apraised) at your own cost. if there are not major safety issues and the powertrain is not stolen, you can obtain a clean title. Otherwise it's a salvage certifigate will be issued. (If the powertrain is not stolen.) That's how it was explained to me at the CA. DMV
My car has a salvage certificate. I'm looking to get a clean title.
Issurace is no different. Other than the assment of the value of the car. If your issurance company attempts to charge you an inflated premium, negociate new terms.

but each state is different...check your local laws..

check with your insurance company too...some won't insure a salvage titled vehicle
