What year ls should I stay away from

I would stay far away from any Taurus and Sable.

I'd disagree... Sure, maybe a Camry or Accord is a better value, but as much as I hated my Taurus in high school, I can't bash it considering its age and mileage.

I have 110,000 miles on my '97, dad has an '03 with 80k, mom traded her '02 in with 140k. My Gen 3 is on its second engine and second transmission. The first engine had a defect and the first transmission lost OD (replaced, not diagnosed/repaired). It's also needed 2 CV axles, rear struts (Moog cargo coils, no more Taurus sag), and probably needs an oil pan gasket.

The 03 and 02, on the other hand, have done just fine. Combined, they've replaced 3 coils, an AC compressor, 4 struts, 2 sway bar end links, an oil pan gasket, and had one gauge cluster contact come unglued and short the CEL to the illumination wire. I don't think they've had any other problems. Both were bought new. All 3 had the Duratec DOHC. The aged/matured Vulcan OHV is bulletproof. They're all also basically the same car (the doors are even the same skins), but I'd go with the Gen 4 '00+, preferring the later 04+ years.

Being seen in a cliTaurus or a diSabled is a different story, depending on your friends and values.

Agree....

And... If one even cares...

Like Mopeds and Fat Chicks, both are fun to ride until your friends find out!

I had a 2000 ls that I loved had to get rid of due to needing a truck plan on getting another one can someone help me and tell me what years should I stay away from

ALL OF THEM.

And I'm not even kidding. If you don't own one now, DON'T ever own one. I'm literally saving you a massive amount of hassle and grief. Run. RUN as fast as you can with your wallet. Don't ever look back.

Pay NO attention to the man behind the curtain.....LOL.....just do the preventive maintenance every car needs and don't buy one that is already worn out.
I looked quite a while before I found a one owner 2003 with only 65K miles. Don't just walk into a car lot and buy one because it's pretty. Look at the car's history. don-ohio (:^)

Sound advice. Finding a good LS that hasn't been beat to schit by the last four 20-something owners is the real key here. I am the third owner of my '02 LS with 150k miles and until you look at the odometer, you'd think it was a 30k mile car.

I bought my LS around 60k miles, and it has got ran extremely hard every one of the 100k miles I have put on it since then. she has been a great and reliable car.

My other post: http://www.lincolnvscadillac.com/fo...udden-overheaing-problem-with-2003-Lincoln-Ls

I think the definition of 'reliable' varies from person to person...

I also think those on here who say the LS is reliable, probably are older, and have owned some seriously bad sh*t boxes in the 80's LOL just a hunch tho.

No,more likely they are older, wiser, and have owned many jewels from the 60s,70s,and 80s. So I don't think your hunch is well considered. don-ohio (:^)
