i just beat the crap out of my car hoping it would throw a code, and it did. cyl 2 misfire. so i bought a new COP. put it on, same story. plugs have less then 10k on them.

next?

no traces of oil at all. i did unplug the coil while the car was running and it deffinetly got worse. so im not sure what that means. injector? maybe the plug is fouled?

swap the #2 coil with the other side, see if your miss moves. If not, you've got other problems.

Probably isn't the number 2 cylinder misfiring. Unless you have the special tool the dealer has to test the coils you really don't know which cylinder is misfiring. Since you've replaced your plugs, might as well just replace the old coils. The 00-02 V8 LS will love you for putting in all new coils and plugs.. :D

+1 I gained 252hp

You got multiple coils failing. The computers seem kinda stupid sometimes. It might pick up one that is just dying and throw the code right away, while at the same time it wont pick up one that died a week ago.

very good points... I always forget about how inaccurate our computer is...

Not like my truck (or virtually all other vehicles), when it tells you there is a miss on a specific cylinder, it's never wrong...

my small suggestion is...check the harness. my car kept throwing me cylinder 3 misfire, i changed it and it did the same thing. turned out a little clip on the harness was broken. i put some electrical type for a short period of time and it never gave me a problem after that

mine did that...it got to a point to where i had 3,5,7 misfire...then i replaced them all...and for months, nothing...then out of nowhere, good ole cylinder 3 again...so i just mashed it...came to a stop, killed it and fired it up again and no problems...

thirdeye, I had that same problem. Had all the coils replaced then like a month later...misfiring all over the place. Got so irritated just mashed the accelerator and haven't had a misfire since. Very weird. I'm bout to get some misfiring work done and I'm gonna tell them to inspect to see if any of those clips (rickztahone was talkin about) are broken.

I believe what the PCM does is detects 'knock' and then trys to match it to which cylinder was in the firing cycle at that momment - and then assuming it was the mis-fire. So it is an in-exact science at best - considering this is all happening at 5000rpm....
