so i was wonderin, i know a guy in my area, that has a say...2001ish mustang, so SOHC, 4.6 litre, stock 260 hp, but the kicker is that he has it chipped. That is the only thing he has done to it i'm pretty sure. so i don't think he could be like over 350hp max. i'm not sure

what would it take to beat him in my 93' mark VIII?

I plan on gettin lms chip, MAF, shorty headers, atleast for now..

just wonderin, cause this guy needs his ass kicked.

thanks,

An 01 GT with a chip?

Dude, chip your car and you're about even with him. Gears and he's done.

I've run an 02 GT CAI/headers/exhaust/chip when my 96 LSC was bone stock and I kept up with him until about 70.

thanks,

your talking about a 90 HP gain from being "chipped"?

a chip in a 260 hp car gives him 280 MAX..
your car is 280 stock
minus the weight differences it should be a good race.

AT THE DRAGSTRIP of course... not the street.

On a properly prepped dragstrip and a good launch with the mark 8.. you'll likely show him your tailights the entire length of the track.

5speed or auto?

A properly driven manual will go low 14s pretty easily, autos more mid 14s.

I've raced quite a few at the track with my LSE.

You'll need some hp or gears for sure.

I thought it was like 250lbs??

I don't know...

4.10, stall and chip.... Easily beat him. MAFs are really a waste of time on a stock motor. oh and here in America its liter.

If it's a manual I think you could take him at least half the time bone stock due to the fact that most people can't drive worth a :q:q:q:q...

Gears and a stall with a tune to go with it and you should never lose....

i took a 99-02 GT from a roll with my 95 base when i first got it from a roll, and more recently took another 99-02 GT from a dig with my 94, now the 95 was 100% stock with 45,000 mi at the time, the 94 has 135k and just has a shift kit, but regardless, he got spanked!

I whacked 96-04 mustangs at the track on a regular basis...
First step is to "tree the crap" out them..
That puts them in "catch up mode"..

They will make the 1-2 and the 2-3 gear change while you ride along beside them in first gear.

more times than not, them being in "catch up mode" will cause them to over rev, miss shift and like KustomizingKid says.. generally "not drive the car".

.

Properly driven being the key words.

If you take a bone stock 93 that runs mid 14's.. and put it against a low 14 second mustang, the difference is easily made up "on the tree".. that is..IF you can cut a light.

Most of the mustang kids you see at the dragstrip couldn't cut a light with a pair of scissors.

They have this invincible attitude that I LOVE to crush with a nice little showing of the MARK 8 TAIL LIGHT.

I agree taking .5 or more from a noobie will give you one heck of a head start. Nothing more fun than beating high 13sec cars across the line. Till they get the timeslip they don't know what just happened.

Car vs. car. Can't assume the original poster car take his 93 to 14.6 either.

Race from a roll. It'll eliminate the launch advantage.

you should see the look on the 12 second wrx drivers face when he got a good look at my 14 second mark 8's taillights...

and.. I "hit the hazards" on him at about 1100 feet.

He spent too much time trying to get his boost and RPM "just right" for that "perfect" launch.
I cut an .010 light on him and he DID catch up to me at the 60 foot clocks
his 1.75 60' to my 2.10 60' but every time he "changed gears" he'd lose about a 1/3 of a car length.

I beat him to the stripe by about a 1/2 car.... he had about 15 MPH advantage at the stripe.. but.. the WIN LIGHT still burned brightly in the LINCOLN LANE.

Car vs. car..

If it were "just CAR vs CAR" then it would be a TIE..
Because neither car would be able to MOVE without a driver.

People often overlook the MOST important aspect of a dragrace.."THE DRIVER".

Cars are inanimate hunks of steel that wont move unless there's an actual "DRIVER" in them.. SO.. it'll never be "Car vs Car".

I dont understand what you tried to say here..

either your english isn't that great or my reading comprehension skills suck.

good news is.. it's almost 4:20, maybe it'll make more sense at 4:30.

taken AS the light turned green, note the front of my car is up.

Taken later in the run, notice the Reaction times (his .593 to my .528) posted on the score boards.

THAT is precisely how to show the Lincoln Taillights to an 2001 GT

(lol)

Footnote.. he "never caught me".

Here's a shot of tiffany doing the same thing to a First Gen Lightning.
She tattoed him to the tree.. in typical Tiffany fashion

Tiffvrs1stgenL.jpg

just do a stall, chip, 4:10's and a 125 shot but dont tell him you did any of that, then kick his ass severly and tell him after the race all you did was put in a K&N filter and some 93 octane and a pine tree air freshner.
WORD!
