What is your take on the situation in Afghanistan and Pakistan?
What do you think the new administration will do about the escallation by the Talaban along the borders of these two countries?
Obviously something needs to be done soon.
I would hope the administration would send a strong signal to Pakistan to either sh!t or get off the pot.
I don't think we are being forceful enough in the region, and one reason may be that our troops are stretched so thinly around the world.
If in the forseeable future, if we are going to involve ourselves in these kinds of world conflicts, we are going to have to increase troop numbers, and that means re-instating the draft, which I have always been in favor of .
We are in no position presently to reign over the world as we once did, we do not have the military power to back up even our weakest of positions.
I am wondering what you think the incomming administration will do concerning these regions.
Bob.

We are actively engaged in the region.
We have been launching military strikes over the border for quite some time now, just covertly. The last thing we need to do is to dump a huge force into Afghanistan, or to start publicly telegraphing our military operations into Pakistan.

Obama is too foolish to know this, hopefully someone around him will.
