How much work would it take for me to switch from the 12 speaker system from my current 4 speaker. they would all be after market more than likely. I have an AVIC N1 and a sub set up already i have the amps i need. I would like to do the 12 speakers directly from the head unit. But if not possible then i will use an Amp. Just wondering if it's possible. I dont see why the mounting points would be any different from the 12 speaker system.

Oh and what all harnesses do i need and where can i find them, because there are 3 at the back of my factory head unit but only one that i can find from Crutchfield.

and could some one please tell me where all of the mounting points are and what are the sizes. I believe that mine are both 6x8's

are you including tweeters into your account because i doubt your talking about 12 actual speakers. and what year is your car?

When they count twelve they count each door as two since it is a coaxial speaker, so you already have eight. The four speakers you are missing are the two console presence speakers and the two rear deck subs. The presence speakers don't do much ( they weren't even included on the top-end THX systems) and if you are putting a sub in the trunk there's not much reason to put in the rear deck speakers.

All four doors are 6x8, the rear deck subs are 6x9. The console speakers were 2" full range. Since you didn't have all twelve speakers from the factory, the wiring is not there so if you do want to put them in you would need to run your own wires. The console speakers had their own amp under the dash, the rear subs had their own amp under the rear deck.

Ok so rear deck is out, so there is a set of components in each door, thats eight and the 2" speakers are in the console. So did the "12" speaker LS have a different console too? i will run the wires, not too worried about that.

Oh and my LS is an 04

And what of this wire harness or harnesses

The console speakers were under the dash on either side of the ashtray, would be next to your right knee. The factory "audiophile" system had a special presence output that played through them, you would not use them with most aftermarket stereos unless it has a center channel output.
